Replacement App/Home Launchers

I know there are other threads about replacement launcher apps, but I'm curious if anyone here is using one on the Inc2 and what they see as the advantage over the Sense UI? I tried Go Launcher EX briefly and while I liked it I didn't see that it offered anything not already available in the Sense UI. I didn't give it much time though so I may be missing the point.
 
I use Go Launcher Ex. I decided to use this because of the ability to use themes and customize the icons. You cannot do this with the Sense UI unless you root.
 
I have stayed with the stock launcher and use Folder Organizer to arrange up my apps in categories (Labels) and shortcuts on my homescreen. (I have not found the need to root either.)

There are compatible themes that can be installed for Sense UI, but I haven't seen anything for icons. Do you have a few favorite themes/icon sets that are in the Market?
 
Launcher Pro Plus gives me 30 shortcuts in the dock instead of the 3 you have with Sense. It also allows me to put 5 rows of icons on 7 homescreens. Then there is the Facebook widget.
 
So what's the difference between skins and themes??

I can't see it, they both give you a differnt look don't they Andre that's just that?

I am already tired of all those. I was using them since I was on froyo, well the other compatible set 'ya know. When I was using them on froyo I could go into the skin picker like I was going to apply a skin and hit menu and delete and list view would come up, then you could touch selected skins, it would show a red X on them then hit delete and they would be uninstalled. I really don't like how some of them have the transparent issue in the status bar, some clocks don't flip, ect.

Now since I am on 2.3.4 I cannot find how to uninstall/delete installed skins. When I hit menu like before all that comes up is list or panel, no delete.
I really can't find how to uninstall them, I got like fifteen installed at like 4mb a piece.
I guess I need to find how to uninstall them before asking where I can find more.

True, many of those Sense themes ported from the Thunderbolt have issues. I decided to install Go Launcher EX again and so far I really like it. I was initially reluctant because I had my phone nicely customized, but then I discovered that I could import all the screen icons into Go Launcher - that made the transition very easy. I am enjoying the wealth of free themes. There are so many it would be good if someone created a dedicated website for them. I'm currently using the Honeycomb theme - very clean, modern look.

I would recommend downloading Go Weather too. There you can get some nice clock/weather widgets to use.
 
Another GoLauncher user. I love the customization of it and that I can hide apps in the app drawer and have folders. It just has so many good features. I even have one them set up to look like Sence when I want it.

This thread is convincing me to try one, since I have never used one before. I like the features you list in go launcher, can it do the full weather animation upon unlocking the screen like the sense clock does, also how many shortcuts can you put in the dock?
Launcher pro makes hTC phones look too much like the cheap LG Android phones out now, to me.

One more thing, had anyone found how to delete installed skins if the delete option is not showing or how to get it to show up so you can delete 'em?

Ok finally broke down and installed go launcher, pretty impressed, i was wanting something different and new. I am kinda overwhelmed by all the settings. I don't know what i did but,my dock bar is cut in half at the bottom of my home screens, i don't know how to make it show fully again. Does someone know how to make it full size again?
 
I just had to install Go Launcher to see it. It's really similar to Launcher Pro Plus. The home screen transition animations are amusing. Choose random to see them all.

I prefer the LPP widgets.

Yes, Go Launcher EX is very nice. Regarding the problem you're having try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications and see if you can "clear data" for Go Launcher. If that's not an option then try uninstall / reinstall.

By the way, Go Launcher EX was recently updated to v2.62. I like the new animations. Seems like there are new themes available for it every day too.

Well looky here, these are a little bit more my style.
You will have to play along if you really want to snatch up these skins.
I can confirm they are working since they are sense 2.1 skins for use with gingerbread. (the first set; before the ones with the camera button on the dock, I didn't mess with those yet...don't know what will happen when I apply them...) Download them to sd card, look at the file after downloading with an explorer/manager you might have to change the extension to .apk manually because it might DL as .zip or .bin
I like this little set better than the 30.
My favorite is the DuskV2 with green framework. ;)

I use dolphin mini because it shows the name of the file before you dl it and gives you the option to edit it on the spot before saving.
The only way I have found to delete skins is to factory reset, since hitting the menu button in the skin picker does not give the delete option anymore like froyo did, maybe there is something I am missing, I might need root to delete 'em.
