Your weather problem is not widespread issue I dont think

My camera works fine both ways

Youtube fix posted...that's just the way it is

Pinch to zoon is overrated, and that was an error made on the pdf

Install vlingo for speech to text

Facebook was always integrated

Not sure about your keyboard, I use swype...its great

What's vlingo? I did a search in the market but came up with nothing...

every since i updated, Google Voice always force closes.
even if i get the force close notice, then not reopen it,
i still get another notification that it has to force close.

had to uninstall it to stop doing that.

Am I the only one who loves 2.1 and has relatively no issues with it? I did a factory reset after the install, so maybe that's why. I love my phone more now with 2.1 than I ever did with 1.5. It's way snappier now and the new features/improvements are great. There are a few very minor bugs here and there, but nothing that affects how I use the phone.

No, I love this phone too! Relatively few issues. Didn't do a factory reset. I find it snappier and love the new features. I am having the weather widget issue which is annoying, but that's really the only thing bothering me so far.

FIX FOR WEATHER WIDGET: Go to settings>applications>weather provider> and then clear data and put the widget back on a clean home screen and it will work!

For those using Swype, there is a speech-to-text option. Just hit menu and choose "Speak". Works like a charm.

BTW, Swype is not in the Marketplace. Do a search in the forums for a link.

My Swype does not have speech-to-text. What version do you have? And where can I find it? I have searched for it

I hate 2.1 so much I went back down to 1.5.. the scrolling through apps in the market

on 2.1 was soooo slow for me, esp. since rebooting 1.5 I can really see it. I also feel

1.5 is all around snappier than 2.1 I don't think the Eris should have ever gone to

2.1

That's your opinion and I'm sorry you aren't having a good experience... mine is running very smooth and quick. I'm going to guess that you haven't done a factory reset. If you really want your phone to run smoothly you really need to do one. If it still doesn't fix your issues, you need a new phone.

Issues I've had...

1) POP e-mail doesn't show up in std mail tool. Files are still on card, but new mail isn't getting stored there. Can't figure out how to tell the mail tool to put stuff on the SD card

2) Standard browser tends to crash, mostly after a re-boot of the phone. After a couple crashes, it seems OK. Reset it to stock (browser only), and crossing my fingers.

It does delete you contacts, but to be fair, it does tell you that! So just synch them. Also had to rebuild the screens, but who cares. Except for the two issues above, I've had no other problems yet. All apps are there and working. Phone is noticeably snappier compared to 1.5. Navigation works VERY well! Tried it this past weekend, and it was spot on. I've been waiting since day one for that, so I'm happy now. That's one of the things I wanted on the phone, so no way will I go back to 1.5.

Don't want to do a full factory reset, because some have reported problems with that.

Maybe it changed some of your settings? My battery life is no different than before the update. I can go 2 days or more on a charge.

I NEVER could go more than 6 hours on a charge, even before the 2.1. I just have to keep a charger at work and I charge all night. I figure I just have a bad battery maybe. Now, at work, there's a very poor signal for calls or mobile and no WiFi, so if not charging, it spends a lot of energy trying to get a signal. but even if I'm not at work, it's very iffy. It helps to turn off mobile and wifi but I still can't go all day, if at some point I use the browser or cool features....

Once you have the Mail Program loaded, Goto Menu, More, Settings, Send & Receive. The 5th option down is "Delete mail on server." I have mine unchecked, but it still deletes the mail from the server.

Yeah, it was there on 1.5, but no longer there in 2.1.

Got the 2.1 OTA yesterday.

I have two mail icons on 2 different screens. 2.1 can't keep them straight.... One was a pop3 account (Verizon) and the other Exchange. I have to do to more and select the "other account". Maybe I need to delete the accouts and set them up again?

You Tube keeps prompting me for password and secret code.... did everything I was supposed to but no dice.

other than that so far....impressed

I found a solution to this issue, I had the same problem after the 2.1 ota update. Press a blank spot on the screen or press "+". Go to "Shortcuts- Mail Inbox". When you press "Mail Inbox" it should give you a popup window asking you to choose which mail client you want to connect to with that shortcut. I did this process twice, once for each of my email accounts. I now have one on my homepage labeled "Exchange" and another labeled with my college's email username.

Here is where I still am stumped. If anyone knows a solution to this (besides the hard reset) please let me know. When I had 1.5 I was able to make one tone for incoming SMS, and a different tone for when I received emails. After 2.1 I cannot make a change that doesnt change all the alert tones. I am able to turn off the notification tones, vibrate, etc for email seperately from SMS, but there is no way for me to change the actual email tone. Any ideas?

Wifes Eris had all kinds of issues after I manually updated to 2.1. Speed dial wouldn't work, weather app crashed and some other things. Did a factory reset and all issues were fixed.

My Incredible is quite a bit faster...

I know there were two posts about this topic, but I am still having problems. I am no longer able to "sync" my outlook (contacts, calendar) on the PC. This all after OTA upgrade.

It took me a few minutes to understand that i must manually tell the phone it should be syncing instead of simply charging.

The phone and the PC do a handshake. The HTC Sync gets activated. I open the application and click "synchronize now." I get two bars on the progress and nothing else happens. After a while I get a message that signal is lost.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I wanted to see if anyone else has been have this particular issue. My Eris was rock solid on 1.5 and I waited and got the 2.1 OTA. Everything has been pretty good far except that I've noticed that occasionally the sound turns off completely. Whenever this happens I also get the silent call issue where I can call out but I can't hear anyone and they can't here me. Turning the phone off and on seems to clear it up, but it's annoying because I usually notice it when I need to make a call. Is there a workaround other than the factory reset that some people are suggesting? I was thinking that maybe there is an app I have installed that's causing it but so far I have been unsuccessful in resolving it. Any suggestions?

Exactly the same for me! I don't make or receive a lot of calls, but the ones I do are pretty important, so a phone that has a problem with the phone function is a major issue. Got the OTA on Monday and by Tuesday night I had 3 missed calls because it never rang, and I had to make 4 calls from a landline (isn't that a blast to the past). Not sure whether I should visit the Verizon Store today. I don't want to have to redo all my home pages, etc.

My Droid Eris 1.5 was working fine with no operating problems beyond not being able to sync with MS Outlook on my laptop. After I received an update notice and applying the update two days ago, my Eris is misbehaving with many of the same issues that I've read about from other posts. Since I live in middle Tennessee and relied heavily on the weather app during the recent floods that we experienced here, the worst problem for me is the forced close that keeps occurring when attempting to update the weather.

My battery also drains very quickly now and I get occasional screen flicker on several apps that I use. I am constantly accessing

Beris I'm curious, do you by any chance have the AudioManager widget?

No AudioManager Widget -- Don't use for audio except for unique ringtones for some contacts that I have downloaded from my mp3s. Some other post seemed to imply that music and/or non-native ringtones may be related to this problem.

I had the dreaded "no audio during call" bug yesterday. I am on the official 2.1 OTA.

I did a battery pull and it went away and I would be able to deal with it occasionally happening if it didn't take forever for the Eris to restart.

If it happens again I'll try a hard reset.

Before the upgrade to 2.1, both my husband and I have not experienced any of the problems I have read on the forum so I was curious what would happen after I did the upgrade on Saturday morning.

I have only noticed a couple of things - my earpiece volume while on a call sounds different - not sure if I would call it lower but different.

Also when I use the keypad - I use the phone keypad to text it keeps going back to the XT9 choice for text input. On 1.5 I had disabled that and I can't find where I can do that in the settings. I use handcent and have looked everywhere in there when I change it back it reverts back to the XT9. That's a little frustrating when I don't notice it right off.

It seems a little laggy or laggyer (if that's even a word) than it was before.

The weather widget was a problem at first but I went into manage applications and cleared the cache and then brought it back up ok.

Im not sure if this warrants doing a hard reset or not. My husband got his notification Monday or Tuesday and hasn't had a chance yet to do it so it's a good thing I got mine first so I can help him if he has anything weird with his.

Thanks. The verdict is still out 2.1 since we had no problems before. But the XT9 is bugging me.

The reset helps with those and other perceived issues.
