Report your 2.1 OTA error /bugs/complaints here.

I've been using HTC Sync with little problem for several months and now with the new 2.1 version it syncs but the addresses are not getting pulled into the phone. Just numbers.

I have seen some posts also for users that have had no problems, but it seems to me a majority of people are having issues.
What do you guys think?

I think that people who have problems are far more likely to post about them than people who are not having problems. I wouldn't judge that a majority of people are having problems. I have had the 2.1 OTA update since Monday, and I have had no issues at all, and the phone is running better than it was under 1.5.

There is a method that you can use to go back to 1.5 if you have problems after the upgrade. See this thread.

I went from 1.5 to 2.1 OTA (not manual). Never had any issues before. ...

2. Calendar app force close every time when you click on a date in the month view. Anyone else have this issue?

YES! That is the most annoying problem that I've experienced since the update; otherwise, using the phone with the 2.1 is like most things in life: there's a learning curve, but after a little practice, it's second nature.

Also, I really miss a week view and a (palm-like) hourly grid view for each day. Is there a way to get these views that I just don't know? I'm not the most tech-savvy person in the world, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I went from 1.5 to 2.1 OTA (not manual). Never had any issues before.

1. Weather app force close every time. Although the widgets seems to be working. (Like the background weather animation in the home screen)

2. Calendar app force close every time when you click on a date in the month view. Anyone else have this issue?

After the update I had issues with both the calendar and weather apps (force closing). I did a factory reset, and both work great now. The factory reset was just a minor inconvenience, considering how smooth my Eris is running now!

My issues:

-Phone is silent when a number is dialed and on incoming calls. Have to reboot to make/receive the call.

-HUGE lag time when dialing a number.

-Camera is blacked out (also have to reboot to fix)

-Battery life seems shorter (have the larger Seido battery)

-Alarm clock doesn't sound (intermittent problem).. but trackball blinks and screen shows the alarm.

I have the 2.1 ota update.
I've done one factory reset and initially noticed an improvement but it did not last.

Hi all! I've got two major problems with my updated Eris and forgive me if it's already been answered, I've been searching, but am only finding the same complaints.

1. My calendar won't sync with Google online. If I enter an event online, it will sync with my phone, but not the other way around. Here's what I did:

*I updated to the 2.1 update.
*I restored my Calendar data from trial version of My Backup.
*When I looked at my calendar, all the events were listed under one calendar (I have multiple calendars set up for different things)
*I went in and hit sync now with no change
*I cleared all the calendar data from the phone & then went online to my calendar to find everything gone! URG!!!
*I then went and restored my data again from my Backup and then synced again' events showed up on the phone, but would not show up online.
*After some searching, and so frustrated that I couldn't get Facebook to sync with my contacts, I decided to do a factory reset.
*I continually checked my online calendar, with still nothing showing up.
*I restored my Calendar data from my back up and once again clicked sync now. Still nothing! Except to make things even worse, my calendar on the phone now shows 3 copies of all events, I'm guessing from the two restores & re-entering everything online.

Is there a fix for this? The factory reset fixed the facebook problem, but my phone still won't sync with online. Please help! I need this to work again ASAP!

Ok, now my second issue. Google Maps still doesn't work right for me. It says my location is 7 miles down the road! Again, I updated Google maps after the factory reset & it still says my Location is 7 miles down the road. I was really hoping to have that feature working with the update, that was one of my biggest issues with the Eris. I can live without it though, but I can't live with these calendar problems.

Thanks so much in advance for your help! I've learned so much from all of you!

Every OTA Eris flash I've used does this as well. Completely at random, the HTC Splash screen will come back - it's almost like my phone doing a partial Restart.

It happens even after a wipe.
I am experiencing these "random restarts" as well, something I never had with 1.5.

Also reporting the 'random restart.'

Countless times I've called a number, and i dont hear the phone ringing or anything (i think this is the silent bug people are reporting?). usually after a few of these it'll do the random restart. interestingly the person on the other does hear their phone ringing though. what a piece of crap!

^Exactly my experience.

Also, something I've mentioned elsewhere in the forum, my "Phone" contact list has EVERY person in my Facebook friend list while the "People" contact list has the correct contacts I want on my phone as synced with Google. I have found no way to fix this without deleting the Facebook account from my phone which in turn removes all the contact pictures.

Same here with the HTC Splash Screen reset. Never happened to me on 1.5. Tried a factory reset, but it is still happening...definitely the most frustrating thing so far about this update...

I updated. I had very little to no problems on 1.5, then installed each of the 3 leaks as they were revealed. There may be something to Frisco's theory of a "trouble-free" phone running 1.5 often equates to a "trouble-free" phone running 2.1. I enjoy many of the new features, of course one was the navigation which apparently you do not need. It's preference. Good luck with what direction you chose to take. If you decide to update, be sure to read the pertinent posts, and a factory reset after.

I just don't think this is the case. I had no issues with 1.5, and then I upgraded OTA and now my phone is extremely buggy. Silent call issues, random error messages that flash on screen for a split-second, frozen screens, and the HTC boot screen thing.

If you back up your phone and do a factory reset before or after the upgrade you should have next to no issues.

I was having the issues mentioned above (with the exception of the silent call) and then did a factory reset. It seemed to clear everything up for a few days, and then the issues started returning. The only thing that the reset did for me was give me the silent call problem. :(

So I did the factory reset and reinstalled all my apps...everything working fine so far. Previous glitches have not resurfaced. However, LOL, now Beautiful widget is acting up. It keeps saying my GPS location is Vilnius....I'm no where near Lithuania.

I had this problem after doing the factory reset as well (exactly the same = Vilnius). I changed some settings, with no fix. Then I turned the phone off/on and haven't had an issue with this so far. That was 4 days ago, so I'm hoping it's good.

Does anyone know, if you go to Verizon with these issues, do they give you a new phone, or a refurb?

Thanks in advance. And good luck!

I've been using HTC Sync with little problem for several months and now with the new 2.1 version it syncs but the addresses are not getting pulled into the phone. Just numbers.

And I'm getting the opposite: I'm getting e-mail addresses but no phone #'s. Had to retrieve them from Outlook and I'll bet they're gone again since the phone sync'd with google. (I'm afraid to look)

Few other issues since 2.1: My phone de-programmed again the day after I had to work through a manual re-program with a verizon tech. Couldn't make a call because my phone wasn't recognized. Another program by phone did the trick, at least temporarily.

I think the lag is worse since upgrading - and I see it in every app.

I keep getting error messages when using USB for file transfer. I'm told it can't be done because the phone doesn't find an SD card. Meanwhile, my F drive is recognized by my PC and all the files are visible.

And since the update, after choosing to mount the SD to work with files, I don't see a way to unmount it. All I can do is "safely remove the drive". I worry about corrupting the SD if it's not being unmounted correctly.

Otherwise, 2.1 is just ducky.

^Have you done a factory reset?

I have, and that led to programming problems, roaming when I was home at the time, 3G not working. Took about an hour to get the reprogramming done w/verizon tech. But I didn't see a real difference even after the factory reset (unfortunately). And then it de-programmed again 2d later.

The phone had no problems at all when it was 1.5.

^Me either. My random restarts started after the reset. Like you, no problems with 1.5.

The reason I ended up doing a reset was because of even more issues such as losing my home screens (even though I saved) randomly. In other words, the phone would just go to some jumbled home screen at random.

I like the new update so far, but when I go into the contact to save a speed dial, it won't save. It doesn't say anything, it just doesn't. When I go to assign a new speed dial number, the one I just assigned is "Available". Anyone know of a fix?

Went into Verizon store today about the silent call issue. Explained the issue to the rep and he pulled out his Eris and called mine -- couldn't duplicate the problem, but he said it's intermittent and he can never get them to do things on command. He placed the order for a replacement phone without any questions -- no factory reset, no nothing. I asked if he was getting a lot of people coming in with problems with the Eris. He said practically none before the OTA -- unlike the MotoDroid which seemed to have a lot. Since the OTA he's getting touch screen issues as well as the silent call issue.

I am always pleased with the reps I have dealt with at Verizon, but true to form, some are much more tech savvy than others.

My Verizon store was not this friendly at all. After talking to them (in vain), then to HTC tech (hopelessly ignorant), and finally from the VZW phone tech persion I got some positive response. The lady recognized the problem, and said she experienced ehis bug on her Droid. She started doing daily reboots and she said she have not had this bug since. The said to try it for a week and if the problem will persists the store will exchange the phone.

I had the dreaded "no audio during call" bug yesterday. I am on the official 2.1 OTA.

I did a battery pull and it went away and I would be able to deal with it occasionally happening if it didn't take forever for the Eris to restart.

If it happens again I'll try a hard reset.

Happened again after hard reset. VZ is sending my a refurb Eris.

Has anyone had problems with received text messages? No matter what setting my phone is on it gives no indication via noise or vibrate that a new message has arrived. This started after the update. I dunno what to do about it if there is anything to do. Phone calls still vibrate and make noise....

anyone having an issue with the trackball or screens going to the left after its on the charger ?? i am now on my 3rd phone and it seems to happen on leak v3 and ota so im lost here didnt have this issue before leak 3 or ota so im wondering if its an issue with the update or if i just have terrible luck and get 2 phones with the same issue
My daughter and I both have the Eris, and both upgraded the 2.1 OTA on the same day. Ever since then, we both are experiencing the following, and I find it difficult to believe that we both experienced hardware issues at the exact same time, when we didn't have any of them prior to the 2.1 OTA:

1. Uninitiated screen-scroll to the left--even to the point that regardless of pressing the "home" button or using the track-ball, we can't keep the screen. It even happens in the browser, where the screen scrolls to the left.
2. When editing text (email or text), the cursor bounces around when using the trackball, or sometimes without even touching a thing.
3. When checking Active Sync emails, the "Received" icon keeps dragging-down--multiple times.
4. I've seen threads indicating that the mini-USB's charging location being in close proximity to the trackball is a possible cause, but again, both my Eris and my daughter's at the same time?

I've removed the battery, as has my daughter. No improvement. Help?

not sure if im the only one experiencing this but when i go to the internet on my eris, it brings up google as my homepage (which is fine), but when i go to search, i have to long press the search field and then hit back to get the keyboard. also, has anyone figured out why sometimes you can go to a website but then it backs out to the sense ui and when you go back into the internet, it brings up your homescreen? it drives me completely nuts. i do admit that i never did the factory reset after getting my OTA a week ago but thats because im planning on rooting my phone anyways.

also on a side note, does anyone know how i can backup my bookmarks?

one more thing....i hate the pinch-to-zoom for the internet.

oh i know that caddyman, im just saying if i have to do a wipe anyways when i am going to root, why bother doing it twice.
