Any chance the admin could add a dark skin/style/theme to the board? Or maybe even multiple colors for people to pick from?

I browse the forum a lot at night and the white gets hard to look at sometimes.
 
I also would love to see the forums in a darker color. I keep having to turn down my brightness, especially during the night hours.

I'm.not sure if this has been requested, but I for one would definitely love a white text on black background theme for android forums

For those of us with oled screens, this would decrease battery drain significantly. Especially if you spend as much time on here as I do.

Better yet, but harder to implement... an official app in the vein of the xda dev app would be brilliant.


In regards to the former, any plans on doing this?

There's a phandroid app (which includes a forum browser) in a closed beta right now for staff and premium members.

No promises, but it should be entering open beta relatively soon :)

Ok I've seen the app and currently it has no themes. I would imagine it harder to theme the app than the site, if its anything like phpbb.

Are there any plans to theme the app? As nice as it is though, being able to force white on black on the site would still be preferred#

I will (and have already) suggested such a theme for the Phandroid App. I would like it as well.
 
Id like to tag on a request on to this thread - I have dual 22" widescreen monitors and all that wasted whitespace...er blue space on the edges roils my blood. OK, maybe not roils, but still - I'd really really REALLY like to see a widescreen skin, even if it is just a modified version of the default AF skin.

As you can see, even though the 7F dark skin is a highly modified skin, the difference between the ws and non ws skin is (apparently) non-fixed values for the column layout, allowing it to widen based upon resolution (or else set using percentages, irrespective of resolution). Otherwise, the skins are identical. A lot less space wasted. and a lot more reading going on in there :D

If I need to make this into my own thread, lemme know and I'll do it.

I threw in the screenshots for the ws look, but the dark skin also looks very nice to those of us who don't like light bgs...
 
The desire for this is understood and kept in our minds - but it will be a while before such a theme hits the Phandroid App - it's not even on the developers list of things to do at this point.

As for the mobile theme - vbulletin has released a new mobile plugin that we may put on our dev box and test out. We are afraid it will not work to everyones expectations considering how non-standard our install is, but we'll give it a shot. If it works well, then surely it can be themed pretty easily.
