Restart problem

Tried restarting my Note # tonight for the first time since I got it. It would startup and then cycle through to the startup screen, the regular screen, and then a second later back to the white startup screen.

Did this three times in a row. I had to take the battery out to do it.

Finally the last time I took my 64gb SD card and started the phone. Started without any problem. Inserted SD card and phone working fine now.

I assume that phone got stuck on something to do with the SD card (tot the tune of over 5 minutes) on startup.

Anyone else having this problem?

so far the only glitch i had was after adding a widget to my home screen the phone locked up and i had to reboot it with no issues afterwards.

I only have a 8GB card in place.

I realize you said you've done this 3x's in a row and the phone finally booted after removing the SD card.
Just for the sake of it- have you tried restarting again to see if it's still necessary to remove the card?

Do you have another card you can put in to see if it occurs with that one too?

Was it a brand new card or one from a previous phone?

I tried to weed out all possibilities to determine if it's a phone issue or card issue.

A wipe of the cache partiton in stock ANDROID RECOVERY will rid a phone of the otherwise unexplained WTH's:

How to Boot into Recovery Mode for Samsung Galaxy S4 - YouTube

The video depicts a SAMSUNG GALAXY S4,but,it works EXACTLY the same for the NOTE 3.

EDIT:
To enter ANDROID RECOVERY:

With the phone powered off, hold the VOLUME UP/POWER/HOME buttons simultaneously, until you see the screen depicted in the video.

1) Once in recovery, toggle down to WIPE CACHE PARTITION w/the volume rocker.

2) Then, tap the POWER BUTTON.This will return you to the top of the page.Simply tap on the POWER BUTTON once again to turn the phone on for normal operation.

This will not delete any data/information at all, a clearing of the cobwebs,so to speak. ;)
