Help Retrieving Text Messages?

My phone was automatically set to delete text messages once a thread hit 200 messages, which I didn't realize until I looked back and realized a good portion of my text messages were gone. Anyone know if there's a way to retrieve the deleted messages? There were some important ones in there I would like back.

You could try going to your google account and see if their there.

You might be able to contact VM and see if they can resend them.

You may want to look into an app like GoSMS Pro (free) you can backup SMS from it.

Unless you have a really good reason, and probably a court order, there's no way VM would do that. Can you imagine the time and resources it would take if they did that for everyone just because?

Like MacFett said, get a third party texting app that'll back them up for you from now on.

I didn't know there was a way to set the phone to delete the messages at all. Can someone tell me where it is? I would like to set mine to delete at 200.

From Messaging main screen, go menu-settings. It's the top two options.

A friend of mine keeps messages from years ago. It only serves him one purpose: To pull up and show someone to prove them wrong and win an argument or hold something against them forever. This guy has very few friends.........

I'm sure that's not what this new member's purpose is.

Your only solution may be recovery software, this is one: Recover Deleted Messages

You can also download any other data recovery software online...I don't think there's an easier solution.
