Root Return to stock?

So I have an HTC Evo 4G V Which I've applied S-Off, Hboot 1.50.5050, 1.09 Radio, running a Dirty Unicorn Jelly Bean ROM. Lately, there's been small things that bug me about it which I don't care to troubleshoot and I do miss the old stock ROM.

So I'm thinking of either returning it back to COMPLETELY stock and wondering how to do this.

Or, flashing hboot 1.57 and restoring a stock ROM.

Which is best and why? Honestly, I'm not taking any advantage of any root or super user features etc.

You can flash a pg86img.zip that will put you back to out of the box state, except you will remain s off....that is what I would do in your shoes. Leaving s off will have no affect on your phone, and will avoid frustration later if you decide to reroot or flash anything other than ICS later.

Here is a link...https://www.dropbox.com/s/nd2vr3lbqm32c5j/ruu_PG86IMG.zip
rename to pg86img.zip and put it on the root of your SD...boot to boot loader and accept update.

It should reboot itself back to boot loader and finish install....then reboot your phone and rename or remove that file from the root of your SD

So I DL'd that zip and the one that adamhos1234 linked me to and they're the same thing.

I renamed the file and it updated successfully, BUT...I'm still S-Off with TWRP still installed etc, just unrooted ROM. There's an update that downloaded and not sure if I should install. Would this be okay to apply or will it brick my phone?

Thanks! Since I've already applied the other ZIP, is there a way I can achieve what the RUU will do without having to DL and install again?

That zip I shared should have given you stock recovery.

If you accept the update and you do have twrp, it will not update. -edit- no harm will be done

If you have stock recovery it will update fine.

If you really want s on there is a fastboot command that will do that, however there is no reason to do that. Being s off will not effect phone performance at all.

If twrp is still installed, run the ruu again.

Ok so I guess I don't have TWRP after applying that ZIP file you posted. The only thing I do have is S-OFF. But I will leave it be if it doesn't matter. Can I apply system updates without having to apply them some hack way with being S-Off?

Yep.
Your phone is stock except for s off.
There will be a total of I think 3 updates.

FYI

If you want to reroot later down the road all you need to do is flash a custom recovery, like twrp or 4ext.

There is no need to HTC unlock again.
That is the advantage of staying soff, that and you can always flash that ruu easily if its ever needed again.

Once you're updated completely you should have hboot 1.58. If you're s on you could not run the ruu while on hboot 1.58
