Why post these? If you are unhappy with your device... return it. Why do you need other people to convince you to keep a device you are unhappy with?

It's a cry for help. We should help these people along as best we can, since they lack the strength themselves. I suggest answering all such wails of desperation with:

Yes, please return the Motorola Atrix to your nearest AT&T dealer as soon as possible. This device is causing you too much pain and must be removed from your presence as quickly as possible. It is a wonderful device but unfortunately, it is sometimes just too much for some individuals to take for too long. We understand and are here to help you. We suggest you try a Pantech Ease for your communication needs.

 Or try something else a little more basic with Android. Ya know, like a Motorola Flipout... or maybe a Captivate. <dodges thrown objects from Captivate fanboys>

I would say helping these folks is worthwhile if they are suffering from ignorance. There are quite a few people who do actually suffer horrible battery life, but don't realize that a full discharge/recharge cycle (or several) can help this problem. I'm happy enough with my atrix to keep it over the iphone4 (by a good margin), but I continue to learn helpful tips from this forum almost every day that make my android-owning experience a more positive one. It's been said so many times before, but if you don't feel those cries for help are worth responding to, you should feel free to not respond.

Yup :) This forum was created for us to share our Android experience and help each other out. We promote a friendly and helpful atmosphere. I see threads created by those that have issues with an Android phone that simply can't take it anymore and this is their last 'call for help'. I usually ask what issues they are facing that they feel the need to return the phone. It might have been an issue with a fix that they didn't know. They might have thought of trying out Android but realize that overall, the OS is not for them. Unlike the iPhone, which gives you all of the basic apps that you are forced to use, Android allows you the ability to customize and choose what's the perfect fit for you.

I do see your point, Roze. Though, it is frustrating when you come to these forums for conversation about your phone and to analyze and help people with problems as well as work some out of your own and all that you see every other post is "Screw this phone, its going back tomorrow" posts every 3 lines. These people don't have to look for help in this way. If they are having specific problems we are here to help. Lashing out with nerd rage just to get some help seems backwards to me. I'm not a psychologist. I don't want to reverse engineer peoples emotions about their phone in order to help them better understand it. Have a problem, though? Say so, I'll do my best to be friendly and help. Thats how I see it.

I think if you're angered by "returning my atrix" threads, then there's a good chance you're having doubts about your own Atrix, no? Otherwise, they're just other threads of people discussing the good and bad points of a given phone.

Actually... not at all. Its just crowding my discussion forum and drowning out good discussion.

Edit: K, I think we can call it quits on this thread... they seem to have all died out from the first page. Hopefully we're in the clear. <crosses fingers>

I can tell you why I'm leaning towards returning mine - the bootloader and the misinformation / poor expectations set by Motorola.

The phone itself is phenomenal but if I wanted to live in a wall garden, I would have bought an iPhone.

You must have been very optimistic buying the Atrix then, knowing beforehand Moto's track record.

I thought of Moto's encrypted bootloader and it does make me . This is the biggest reason why I'm attracted to the Nexus line...pure freedom. It's just the Nexus S disappointed me upon announcement. I never rooted my Nexus One during the 9 months I had it.

This is nothing compared to all of the Returning my Evo for an IPhone threads. They went on forever!

Well I was naive and took them at their face value when they said that they were going to work with developers. That they backpedaled from that infuriates me on several levels, but it appears the only way any one us can make an impact on them is to have an effect on their bottom line.

I don't know, I'm interested in hearing why people wanna return the phone. I don't have it yet, so reading those lets me know what's up. However, one of the more common complaints I've seen the slow data speeds, which I know isn't the fault of the phone, it's the fault of AT&T.

For what it's worth, I'm in an area that, as I was told, has already had the work done for 4G. The sales rep in my AT&T store even printed out a map to show someone else who was looking at the phone to show them that ...

...and yet I get no faster speeds than I did on my Captivate. In fact, with a HSUPA enabled modem I could get faster upload/download speeds that I can on the Atrix. That seems to imply that there's a hardware throttle in place on the Atrix.

I'm planning on returning mine on Tuesday, and probably waiting for the Samsung Infuse 4G to be released.

They still doing the tethering thing to atrix owners? If they drop that crap my next phone will be the atrix, if not than it's not worth giving up my iphone

This is why I returned mine.

I had absolutely no issue with the phone itself, motoblur... nothing. The phone was awesome. It's ATT that sucks.

Now I'm joining the crazy crowd of people speculating on the Thunderbolt's release.

I also returned mine for the above reason. Wound up getting the Inspire. Rooted it and put CM7 on it. Its running great and I am getting 1.2 - 1.3 upload speeds. :)

Really boils down to what works in your area, where I'm at I could have the top phone on Verizon or Sprint and they would suck royally. AT&T is the only one that gets 3G service in my area most of the towers belong to AT&T. I live in a small town population 650 and I live right between 2 towers.

I switched to the Atrix after having an Iphone for almost 3 years, really just for a change. After having the Atrix for a little over 2 weeks I'm happy with it and the Android platform and probably will not go back to an Iphone.

I consistently get 2.5 to 3.0 meg on downloads on the Atrix but uploads never break the 368kbs neither did my Iphone 3GS. The Iphone 4 is about the only device out there that gets to fully utilize AT&T's network. Friends of mine with the Iphone 4 constantly see downloads around the 4 and 5 meg download and almost a meg up.

Why not Samsung Galaxy S2?

Why not Samsung Galaxy S2?

Believe the S2 is a T-Mobile phone. And it doesn't make sound financial sense for me to buy out the 3-phone ETFs just to move over, no matter how much the unlimited data and sweet pricing might call to me.

I've spent the evening backing up contacts (again), apps, etc, in preperation of moving things back to the Craptivate. I already spoke with AT&T, and they've got everything prepped for me to head to a store on Tuesday to return this thing. I'm loathe to the idea of returning to the Craptivate, but I have no interest in the Inspire (no FFC is a killer) so...I'll wait.
