Root [Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide

Let me guess, go into recovery again and find the pc36imgzip?

a good guess, but you are wrong. lol:p

once the PC36IMG file is on the card then you need to boot the phone into the bootloader. power off then press and hold power+vol down (make sure that fastboot is unchecked).

if you named the PC36IMG file correctly and it is on the root of the card then the bootloader should see it and ask you to update select yes. when it is done check your hboot version it should be hboot 2.10. if so then onto using unrevoked to get s-off.

It's not there, must have renamed it wrong... let me check.

it needs to be named exactly PC36IMG.zip make sure that you are not adding an extra zip as windows by default hides extensions. otherwise you might get a file that is named PC36IMG.zip.zip which will not work

if you have it so that all files have extensions then make sure that you have one for it.

Looks like it was loading....I don't see anything new...

when you first get to the bootloader screen, you will see it scan for the file. in the end it will say no image or wrong image and then nothing. if that happens then the file is either not named right or it is not placed in the right spot on the card. make sure that you do not have it in a folder.

also does your computer shows file extensions? like .zip files or .exe files? or does it hide the extensions?

Using caps and it is on the root.

Correct.

Lets see, usb debugging enabled, fastboot disabled and should I choose disk drive or charge only before I go to the bootloader?

On the CMD prompt,

Is it supposed to show C:\Android> Or C:\Android\Root> ?

Does the watermark show up as locked as soon as I go into bootloader or does it go from unlocked to locked after it reads the PC36IMG?

On the CMD prompt,

Is it supposed to show C:\Android> Or C:\Android\Root> ?

ok so here is the image that the captain has:
attachmentvf.png

is that what you seen when entering the command?

that is fine as long as you are in the folder with the adb files. as long as the outputs are the same then i'm not sure what is going on.

oh wait......what size card do you have? the evo has trouble seeing files on cards that are 2g in size.
