Root Revolutionary Stuck

KSCAJUN

Lurker
Ok - I was able to root my HTC Evo 4G and it worked fine - Then I tried to unroot to update then re-root and now I have the following screen:

-Revolutionary-
Supersonic EVT3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.16.1002
Microp-041f
Touch Panel-ATMEL224_16ab
Radio - 2.15.00.0808

RUU

That is where the screen stops - when first turn the phone on I get HTC in the middle of the screen with a triangle in each corner.

How do I take this back up and running

Thank you advance.

Your first problem was trying to unroot to upgrade. All you had to do was flash the updated ROM in recovery, not unroot.

You still have S-OFF, so either you didnt unroot all the way or you got S-OFF again. The reason revolutionary froze was because the new upgrade isnt compatible.

Your next step is getting Amon Ra back on the phone as your recovery.

Well on the HBOOT version according to screen it says 6.16.1002 not ver 2.xx

Also you will see the following on power on with vol down button -
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB

ok like rxpert said never accept an ota while you are rooted. all you need to do is wait for the devs to cook up a rom with the ota. this applies to all devices. so in the future adhere to this and all will be good.

for further details please read this:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/486888-new-ota-4-67-651-3-out-do-not-accept.html

now you have s-off which is good and your hboot is normal. hboot 6.16 is what you will get after revolutionary does its thing. so nothing has changed except for the fact that you do not have recovery.

so go here http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html and go to the switching recoveries section to get amon ra back onto your phone.

K- downloaded the PC36IMG.zip and saved it to the SD card and renamed it to PC36IMG - did this on Windows 7

Inserted card back in the phone and press power and vol down at the same time till screen pops up but the screen is all black with HTC in middle and a triangle in each corner. Still no menu options.

Try to pull the battery, then let it sit for a hot second.
Then put the battery back in, then hold the volume down then press and hold the power button. Should get the white screen with Andy riding the skateboard, hboot, wait here. Your phone will scan for the PC36IMG and ask you to update. Press volume up to select yes.
Let it do its thing.
Select no to reboot.
Scroll down and select recovery.

Should boot and you'll have amon-ra.

And if no white screen pops up after removing battery and volume down and power button - still getting the screen with HTC in middle with triangle in each corner.

I think the issue is the RUU that is coming up on the screen. He is stuck in limbo and might have a corrupt hboot. Likely the OTA that he tried to accept didn't update the hboot to the newest version and damaged it in the process. You might try and run the RUU from the pc for hboot 2.16 and see if it will restore your hboot. The RUU file should be available in the Rooting for Dummies GB Edition in the unrooting section.
