RIP funkylogik - with great sadness

I haven't been on the forums for about a week or so and I am truly shocked to log on today and find out that Funky has passed away. He was one of my first friends on the Android forums and was always there to offer advice or cheer you up with a laugh. Everytime a newbie posted a question or asked for help he was always one of the first people to jump in and offer support. We always seemed to meet up on a post where someone needed a helping hand. I am not sure of the circumstances of his passing because he never once mentioned being ill. You will be missed my friend and I hope your family gets to read some of these comments to see how much you were liked. Rest in peace bud , you will be missed. thumbsupdroid :)

Wow. Attributing an actual flesh and blood person to an avatar and internet handle is slightly sobering. I enjoyed his input and jousting style. He's been here since I first joined. I guess I thought he would be here forever. We're all human after all. I'll miss ya Funky. Death is but another path we all must take (JRR Tolkien as Gandalf the Grey). Best wishes to his family

I'll miss you funky
I was just thinking about you in that silly pink princess dress the other day!! My computer crashed and I just got my new one up and running this morning... So I haven't been online except for one thread through tap talk on my phone I'm sorry I missed everything that was happening
I can't believe you're gone
I hope you found peace
You were one of a kind and will truly be missed
- my friend

This is really sad and unexpected. :(
Though I haven't been here long, I do miss him a lot. His enthusiasm for Android was downright contagious. I had mixed feelings about Android at first. It was thanks to him that I came to love it.
It feels so strange now to post a question here and not to receive a reply from him almost immediately. :(

Wow. Like a few others I've been out for a few days. Came back to hear the news. Very cool cat, that funky. Man, hard to believe. You will be missed "bro" (American for mate). Incredibly helpful guy, the forum is a lesser place without him.

I'm so sorry guys to bring up this pain again but I only just f0und this out a couple of days ago. I can't believe he's gone. It is so sad. The guy was such a f**king legend. I'm sorry for my french but he was. It's hard to accept that you're never going to hear from that person again. That person who joined after me and reached 1ok posts in something like 6 months lol. He was everywhere talking to everyone. He was a force for unity, like a glue for humanity insinuating himself into your heart through sheer likeable honesty and friendliness. I never saw him have a bad word for anyone. Ever. He made the world a happier, more welcoming place. I had the privilege of sharing the S3 i9300 root forum with him after almost everyone else had left and moved on to newer phones. I looked forward to dipping into the dying root forum because his enthusiasm kept it alive.

I only found out about his passing recently because I sort of stopped using the forum for android-related stuff because I've still got my S3 and it has pretty much become EOL so there were very few new posts in i9300 Root subforum. I already missed funky because he upgraded to a OPO, so when I dipped into the dead forum I didn't know anything had happened.

Then on an impulse I wanted to see if funky was online so I could chat with him and I searched his name and found a link to this.

:(

It's a strange phenomenon for so many people who never met the physical Smity Smith to grieve him, but we do. We have lost something, and his absence makes us aware of what we had, and it's a testament to him that we ever discovered we could have that connection with a group of people in an online environment, and we should honour him by striving to maintain that. He showed that love and friendship can travel across oceans and continents to other people that we've never met in the flesh if a connection has been made through communication.

Shit I'm feeling choked right now.

No need to apologise on my account. I echo everything you've said.

An everlasting memory for me is helping him choose his final avatar picture just a few weeks before he left us. That picture will remain in my Gallery and in my heart forever.

He's helped so many in his tenure with af before his passing. It sure doesn't feel like it's been nearly 5 months. Still getting choked up after all this time reading the OP by EM. Miss you mate.

Yeah, I ran across a thread just last night where he had promptly and cheerfully chimed-in to help a member with their questions.

Didn't matter whether or not he knew the answer--the member was always left with the feeling that he had tried to help and that someone cared about them.

Still miss you and think about you, Funky!

I know that feeling when you come across a thread with one of his posts. :(
