great, between this and swype i have just about everything the way it was before i flashed. now if only there was a way to be able to send pics without losing my contacts everything would be perfect.

I'm using the standard browser that's in Velocity 1.1 I've also noted that my Pandora also FC's I've wiped data first - still FC's then I wiped data and uninstalled the app pulled it from market reinstalled and still FC's. Guess I gotta find an older version as well....
 
I have tried several browsers, the Google one included, and the only ones I have found that do not have very serious lag while I am typing on forums from the Ally are the 2 versions of Opera (Mini and Mobile). I just read something about Opera releasing a new "lightweight" browser, but I can't find anything on whether an Android version will be released.

Interesting that the "Google Maps FC" issue is not dependent upon any one browser.

and have to wonder if all the Android phones turned in as 'defective' because custom ROM flashing went sideways on some user had an actual impact on the statistics they are quoting?

I have to say, Velocity really helped out my LG Ally phone. It was a slow POS with the stock software. Now the thing screams almost as fast as my Droid X(almost ;) ). I cannot believe it.

Just installed V1.1... so far so good, but I'm waiting to see what crashes first, TBH. The last time I attempted Velocity (V0.4) apps would FC like crazy. It got to the point where my phone was unusable, so I had to revert back to stock.

Again, no problems to report at the moment. If I do encounter any big issues, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and do a full factory reset and wipe everything.

Also, MMS and camera seem to be working fine.
 
I was just having problems with Opera Mobile 11, so I re-installed it. Shortly afterward the Ally did a spontaneous reboot, and when it came back on there was an icon in the notification area to the left I have never seen before. It looked like a 4-sided SOIC. I pulled the notifications bar down, and the message there said:

"Unclean shutdown. Settings not applied."

I restarted the Ally again and now it seems OK. Has anyone else seen this? Any insight into it would be welcome. I am guessing the settings referred to would be all the settings I have made on the phone out of personal preference?
 
it does that if you have it set to overclock at boot. mine pops up when it restarts funny too. all you have to do is click the notification and it will take you to the overclock screen and hit apply.
 
I only recently set to overclock at boot, so had not thought about that as one of the "settings". If it happens again I'll just do as you suggested.

And if it keeps happening, you might want to bring down the OC speed a notch.
 
I'll keep that in mind. I have run at 768 for quite a while before I decided to try OC at boot. As long as I don't put a heavy video load on the Ally it seems to run smoothly at 768. Back when I was still playing Angry Birds I could not exceed 748 without it throwing a KP after a few screens of the game.

Okay so I keep getting a system update message and it's not like I give a rat's ass about the notification I'm just wondering if it's the new market update, just curious. I also had a force close issue with pandora radio what I did was installed an older version of the file i'll link itt here:

I've been a velocity guy since about the second release or so, I love what this rom has done for my phone, I hope that there's still at least one more update in store for this little bastard phone. It's so nice to still get oohs and ahhs from Droid x and atrix owners. Thanks again velocity team!
 
If it's the same OTA update that was discussed a few pages back in this thread, and you want to stop the notification, make sure your Velocity Scripts are updated to the most current version. (Currently version 38). That should stop the notifications.

Yeah I'm just a dumbass. I updated the scripts and no more notification. But that was still the bug fix update? I saw something saying Google was updating their market, I even saw a preview of it online somewhere. It would look kind of like a WP7 home screen, with blocks all over the place. I thought it looked ugly as hell but it did offer movie rentals. Not like I'd ever rent another movie from the market, I did it once and was totally unsatisfied with it. Bad quality, kept skipping, just terrible, however, I wouldn't want to be chastised by the Google folks cause my phone doesn't have the "proper" market version. But if this is still that other one then oh well, who needs it, our guys (the Velocity Team) have already addressed and resolved those issues before hand. Also is that Pandora link helping at all? It's just I haven't heard anything like "thanks that worked well" or, "the latest update for that app resolves the issue, an earlier release isn't necessary any longer". Just curious. Also if anyone was looking for a Google+ invite, check out the sticky : http://androidforums.com/google/367927-official-google-invitation-thread.html. I've got invites but hit me up there, not here. Thanks again for all the hard work VT (Velocity Team), I'm eagerly looking forward to V1.2 (Hopefully).
 
has anyone tried the new android marketplace yet? someone on a different forum posted a link for it and i thought i'd try it out. it keeps force closing on me though. i've tried everything i can think of but to no avail. could it be incompatible with velocity at this point? since my phone has been acting up anyway i might try going back to stock and see if this is a ally issue or a velocity problem.

How did you get a market update? I was just thinking that the new market should be available soon but I still haven't got the option to update it. Did you get an apk from somewhere? If so, link it, I want to see and maybe others do too!

I installed it and it isn't listed in the App drawer, but it is listed in the Settings / Manage Applications as Adobe Flash Player 10.1. I was able to move it back to the phone from there. However, when I went online and downloaded a Flash Video .swf file, the Ally is unable to play it. So how is this supposed to work exactly?

Edit - I just checked the thread for this download over on XDA, and did not find anyone saying it worked on the Ally.
 
Just downloaded this version of flash and it worked smoothly on a video i tested with on dolphin browser hd. Going to check out more videos on more sites just to see if we're limited to some videos.

EDIT- Checked a few more videos and the browsers (stock and dolphin) seem to force close when there are two or more things on the page that require flash. Maybe its just my Ally. {OCed to 787}
