Did it get wet? Good drop maybe? Ive killed a friends phone by taking it for a swim and it was actin crazy like that before dying. If you have fastboot you can try flashing velocity from the 2.2 root guide. That would allow you to do a wipe and reflash from the pc. I think you can restore and such from within recovery via adb, i only say this because ive gotta an error trying to restore telling to run nandroid-restore.sh or something like that. Vauge i know but thats all i got. If you dont have fastboot but the phone still turns on try LGNPST. Itll take it back to stock V6 and if neither LGNPST or fastboot work then its probably hardware

hmm i have dropped it a long time ago (the screen is cracked pretty bad) but this has never happened before. i will try that and post back later. thank you very much!

A cracked screen can cause all sorts of mis-cues in the digitzer layer. You should replace the display. I doubt any other procedure will make it stable again.

thats very odd because the screen has been cracked for 8 months now and this is the first time anything strange has happened. if i need to get a new display ill probably just get a new phone. im eligable for an upgrade on the 26th, and i heard that the lg revolution is coming out then. im going to try using the backup or reinstalling the OS but if neither of those work ill just get a new phone

What does all of this have to do with Velocity?

i initially wondered if it was a software, and thusly a velocity, issue. as people have said that it is a hardware problem, then it does have nothing to do with velocity and ill be leaving this thread now haha

im afraid my phone is bricked. it was working today till on the way home from a movie it started freaking out (i.e. the camera was turning out, it was taking pictures, phantom touch screen presses, screen would turn on and off randomly, etc.) i eventually managed to restart it normally, but when i did it turned on in safe mode and the slideout keyboard doesnt work. i thought i would just reboot into recovery and either install the backup or reinstall velocity entirely. however, heres the catch: the slideout keyboard doesnt work in recovery either, so i cannot install anything at all through that. and as the keyboard doesnt work when it is booted up anyway, the terminal is useless as well. is there anything i can do to save my phone? i tried doing the hard reset through privacy settings, but that didnt do anything either and the slideout keyboard still does not work. i cannot get safe mode to go away either.

i have been running velocity 1.1 since may 3rd i believe without any issues at all and have been using velocity as a whole since 0.2. i am at my wits end as to do with the exception of getting a new phone

edit: to clarify, b and left arrow work on the keyboard. nothing else does

I have actually had this same problem with two of my LG Ally's, I have a number of methods that can help to trouble shoot your problem. Just PM me and I'll clarify upon some of them.

One the cracked screen was mentioned, I now see it clearly doesn't. I was headed in that direction when I posted that he should replace the display. He has been extremely lucky. Digitizer layers are absurdly fragile things. I doubt any of what he is seeing is a problem with the Velocity ROM.

Does it make a difference if we use the version of busy box packaged with velocity vs. the version coupled with titanium backup ?

Sneak peak at code name velocity turbo.

It will be released in due time after proper testing of course. Benchmark was done on velocity 1.1 at @844mhz clock btw.

:eek::eek:

dang! my phone will only do 806mhz while maintaining stability. anything higher is bad news for me.

Seriously, Velocity Turbo? Just when I think it's gotten as good as it can get, you guys do this. It's gonna be sad when I end up upgrading to a new phone.

Holy chit. Thats pretty good for a generic android. But hopefully we can install our non working apks in next release.

I finally took the plunge and flashed velocity, and I must say I really like it, I have a couple questions though and I'm probably just being an idiot and over looking something...but

Ok, on my stock rom I used a custom ringtone as my alarm, had a custom ringtome for my wife and then a custom ringtone for the phone its' self as well as a custom sound for texts. Now, when I go settings/sounds it's only giving me the choice of pre loaded sounds. How do I add my own to be used? I tried moving the sound file to system/media/ringtone,alarm,notifications but it says it can't move the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

And, my second question, does visual voice mail work with velocity? If so, can I just find it on the market?

another sneak peak http://bit.ly/lUReYi

I have turned my focus away from cpu optimizations as the ally is pushed to the maximum there. I'm now working on Input/Output optimizatons. With a custom built and optimized dalvikvm and sqlite and running a ext3 data the ally hit 1834 quadrant @ 844mhz. My dinc cant even hit that with overclocking alone at 1.2+ ghz.

Just an fyi overclocking is more stable at higher freqs now so most should be able to go higher in future releases.

Just a little curious, but i can get 2000+ on quadrant with oc'd only to 768 already...not nockin your kernel skrillz, it's probably just phone differences.
