Root [ROM][4.0.4][WIP] Super Helado

I just flashed this rom and I think I'm going to keep it. A couple of questions though : Where is the My Files folder? It was under Apps before I flashed this rom. This rom also kept the stock looking icons on the home screen, they didn't change. Is that a common thing? Other than that, it seems to be working great. It's only using around 135mb of space. Also, is there a thread somewhere that lists all of the essential apps people should download? This is my first smart phone, so I'm a noob with apps.

Lovely ROM, thank you so much for this!

Whoops, forget my question. Guess it's known. Hopefully a fix to the messenger app.

What I have noticed for it, however, is that if you send a text, lock the phone, get a reply, then it 2/3 times stays in that thread. Pretty annoying, but I guess it could get worse.

I had installed another Messaging APK, but the problem still persists. Guess it's nothing with the application itself; rather, an issue with the architecture of SMS/MMS receiving? Not sure exactly how they work... Probably a checksum type...thing?

Use the touchwiz mms.apk
It's what's stock on the phone. I've had no problems with that.

I had slow GPS reception as well. It did eventually acquire signal but hella slow. Otherwise, Helado seems to be pretty solid. I hope developers still update it, cause I am sure as hell not going to JB

I just installed this for my friend's phone as a daily driver. installed wifi hotspot for rooted user too. Eliminated the update to JellyBean. Phone now works like a champ!

How did you manage to kill the JB update? Also, have you had any problems with sync, specifically calendar sync?

Do I need clockwork or can i just slap the ZIP file on an SD card and boot into recovery and navigate to it there?

thanks

I see a ton of people using CWM, but you have to have a rooted phone PRIOR. I do not have a rooted phone nor care to. Plus all of the techniques used to root the Reverb do not work after the JB update. Just want the new stock POS 4.1.2 to go the hell away and never come back. Flipping back to 4.0.4 will be great.

thanks again.

You have to be rooted.

Info in the following may be of assistance.

Can you explain why? If I apply the ROM from within CWM Recovery, I'm not even in the regular OS which you're saying needs to be rooted.

Just trying to understand and learn more about this stuff.

Thanks.

Because the manufacturers block you from doing so...

What he means is that the block is in the OS. Since he is not in the OS, he can't be blocked. I don't believe you need to be rooted in order to flash ROMs.

i get boot loop with this man and when i hit power button the screens goes off and on as if its on and just replaying a video over and over again i did not reset everything
