Root [Rom][5-3-12]Broken Out Rom 2.0

Any idea how long until the links will be working again? I saw they were pulled like a week ago, if not could someone that has already downloaded it dropbox the rom to me or something like that?

it actually seems to do a lot better than adw. not sure why.. I think it looks better as well so its a win win

I hate the app drawer with a passion.. but qq allows folders in the drawer which helps organization
 
I've used the CWM recovery, unroot zip, stock ROM, and root zip. so I could download the updates for my breakout. Had a little trouble getting it to all work out, but in the end it did the job. I downloaded and installed the Custom ROM 1.2 today and it was a very smooth install. Got all my apps loaded with no problems. I originally rooted using zergrush manual root method, yours was alot easier. The Custom ROM is very good and running stable so far. I'm not much on animations, themes, etc. I just want a stable root with little to no bloatware. Cudo's mtmichaelson for all his hard work in getting a nice easy root and custom ROM for the pantech breakout. Thank You for your time and patience in making this possible. I'm a noob with smartphones, this is the first such phone I've had, I got it back in september last year.
 
I installed the rom, but I am stuck in the boot loop. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I originally rooted with zergrush and have never been able to properly install Verizon's over the air update. Every time I try I have gotten an error message that Verizon's update file did not have proper permissions to update after the "!" showed about ten percent into the install. Does anyone know where the update.zip file is on the device? Alternatively I see an option to install the update in CWR so does anyone have the file that I can access by installing on my SD card?

You are going to have to flash the pre update zip (added more bandwidth this morning) then reinstall stock recovery then update. Then you can reroot and cwm, then flash broken out.

Step 1 I flashed the StockBreakoutPre.zip - I'm assuming the pre-update zip you referred to.

Step 2 install stock recovery - This is where I'm lost. I assume I am having a misunderstanding with this part because of the similarity of the file names. Could you elaborate on this?

Step 3 profit...errr update reroot cwm flash broken out.

There should be an option in the all in one to install stock recovery.
 
Alright so per the other posts on your Pre-Update patch thread I have:

1. Installed CWM recovery
2. Wipe data / system reset - Should I try wiping the cache partition and Dalvik partition as well?
3. While still in the same boot of CWM I then installed the pre-update rom zip file.
4. Re-booted the phone and went through the initial dialogue screens to enable USB de-bugging for CWM installation
5. Installed Stock recovery
6. Ran updates - and they still failed.
status: Failed update
code 410
 
uhm to your question your going to have to download the dump file for the pantech breakout and reinstall the bloat apps that are under there and then you have to use root explorer to manually change the permissions to actuall system files which you can do with root explorer
 
ok this is how i got it because i to rooted and deleted apps but i got it XD
first and fore most go back to your original rom with the deleted bloatware the one you had before you flashed the pre update. next download the system dump file for the pantech breakout on your pc unzip the files and move the whole folder with all the files to your phone onto the sd card next is key make sure it is rooted still, download snappz market then download root explorer next find the dumpfile then navigate to the app folder underneath the dump file folder and find the apps that are missing when you find one long press and hit copy ( have to do one at a time) then hit back button until your out of the sd card navigate to system app (make sure you are out of sd card folder) and hit well basically this

but you dont have to hit mount r/w everytime nor reboot, but after you find every app and copy them to the system folder of the phone, you hit the top right button again and then reboot
make sure you have flashed back to stock recovery and it wouldn't hurt to unroot after all this
it installs like a dream then
 
Hey guys, just to give you all a little preview, I am working on an update for broken out! It will add several features including aosp lockscreen, and screenshot option added to the power menu. Got it all running but am tied up on a couple of the details. Hopefully will have it out soon!

You should try it out with Qq launcher pro instead of are. At least on 1.2 it benchmarked better and has much less bugs than adw.

May make for a more stable rom
 
I've been running the V1.2 ROM for over a week. No bugs, reboots, lockups,etc. this has been a VERY STABLE ROM. Look forward to the next release. Reading the problems some are having with unrooting and update installations. When I unrooted and installed the preupdaterom, I had a recurring problem in that the phone would not unroot properly. Superuser was still active which kept the updates from installing. My work around was to simply install the unroot script multple times consecutively to be sure I was unrooted, then install the preupdate ROM. This allowed me to sucessfully update the phone. Then of course root the phone and install whatever ROM. Don't know if this helps but its what worked for me. Keep up the good work mtmichaelson it is appreciated.
 
Cleared cache, dalvik cache, full wipe, restored factory defaults, and installed the lasted rom, 1.2, but after a few restarts, I run into the dreaded bootloop. Wiping cache, dalvik, and fixing permissions doesn't help.

I love this rom, and besides the bootlooping, I absolutely love it.


So, for the boot looping problem after a successful install and a few restarts, anyone have any suggestions for me?

Wish I knew why it works for some and not others. After I install it it runs GREAT, frees up a ton of storage, etc, but after a reboot, back to the bootloop here too..
