Root [ROM] [ALPHA] [Triumph] 2.3.4 Gingerbread UPDATE!!! 4/30

I was wondering is this and minimal triumph2.0 still being worked on or not. because i know ziggy move on to different phone not sure if he still has the triumph and mobstergunz will probably be moving onto evo v. so ziggy or mobster if your out there could you reply or something

Well, have moved on... BUT a user was nice enough to send me a triumph for free. So once I get a battery for it, I will put some work into this. :D

Mobster told me that he will still be hanging out here as well. And most likely doing that same thing as me

Was going to say that I ordered a few that had been discounted on Amazon a few month back. Just say the word and I can slip one out with my works daily UPS pickup in the morning.
 
Such a shame that other devs aren't helping out... I see no point in the pursuit of random roms with recycled tweaks, when this rom could be a solid foundation for future roms.

I might even go back to my optimus... or switch carriers. I would have though Virgin would have supported this phone a bit better considering it was their top model.

you are exactly right this could be the foundation for future roms if other devs would help out. this is the only rom thats on 2.3 or 4.0 that has everything working except data. they even have hdmi working which no one else has working. well we just have to hope that mobstergunz and ziggy get data working but the only thing about this is mobstergunz will probably be trading his triumph for the evo V. so it will probably be hard for him to do anything if he doesn't have the phone anymore. but hopefully down the line some one will be able to donate their phone to mobster if he do decide to trade or sell his triumph. someone donated ziggy a triumph and i gave him a battery so hopefully we see a few updates. i actually been doing research on building roms so hopefully i can get pretty good at it to start helping out. im going to try and make a rom first for my intercept (test dummy) seem as i don't use it.

Actually we have had a fully working but data 2.3 rom for a long time... No one actually did anything with it though. (technically it was for the ideos x6 but worked fine on the mt) There are even threads from months ago about it. And it is the base of this rom

I honestly don't know why someone like TG or Isaac didn't pick it up though. I mean it was basically fully functional (besides RIL data, but everything else worked). But I mean at least people are trying to get it working now. Even if it is slow going...
 
Hey guys, I've noticed a few things.

First, is that in framework-res.apk there is a file called ERI can't remember right off hand which folder it was in, maybe it was a folder, but when compared to a working framework res, there was a file that looked important to getting the data working. I was deep into something else the other day and made a note of it but haven't got back to it.

Second, is the phone that this rom is based off only has W-CDMA/HSPA (850/2100MHz), and our phone uses CDMA 1900 MHz, EVDO Rev. a.

Third, I was wondering if we are actually roaming on another network on this rom, possibly? I think verizon uses 2100, but this was just a thought that crossed my mind after I saw that file and then looked into the cdma capabilities of the sharp sh8188u. So, this is just an off the wall observation more than anything.

That likely just the graphical and textual resources for displaying the data status. That's the sort of stuff that is usually in framework-res anyway.

I am going to start looking into fixing data on this thing (since I failed fixing hdmi on CM7) so wish me luck.

I kinda drifted off on that...... I admit that I don't have the motivation since I'm gonna get rid of my Triumph for the Evo V bit if I get any lead on how to fix it I'll be sure to share what I find :)

My first try to fix data was unsuccessful, but I plan on trying again. I'm out of town right now and between diablo 3 and a new job I haven't had a lot of time :). Hopefully next week I will be able to put some more hours into it and fix data.

wsimon I will be working on the ROM now and dropping from CM7. However by all means this is all open source so any and all help is appreciated :D Community first!

I'll take my attempt at fixing data with these commits. Let's see where I get.

Yeah those are the commits I was using to fix data but I think I made a a small mistake somewhere in RIL.smali because I was getting an error in the RIL file and so the phone Apk was crashing. I haven't looked at it again yet though.
