Root [ROM] Android 2.2 FroYo - Brought to you by MDW (OC & Flash 10.1!)

I figured it out, just had to uninstall setcpu and reinstall.

I have tried to install the 1.0 Kernel twice, both ways suggested with clockwork, it never takes. Any ideas.

how do you know it doesnt take? Do you have wifi?

I was experiencing the same issue, then i realized it was just set cpu that wasn't recognizing the difference.

Moving the slider in setcpu did it for me.

Huh - something I *just* noticed. In previous times (and it may have been ROM specific) but if I used adb to reboot into recovery, the led would flash red.

Doesn't happen anymore....

If I had wifi hotspot tethering and Fab's theming, I'd be in Droid heaven. In the meantime, letting all my friends drool over hulu on the phone will be a fair compromise!
The next time I say something foolish, please feel free to call me a noob as long as you follow the slander with a "let me google that for you" link. Via my newsfeeder, I just stumbled across the standalone install of "Wireless Tether for Root Users" in the Market. (The same one bundled with NexBeastV1.1 if I had to guess.) Installed and ran and it works great. Seeing that Fab is already working on his themed version means I'm no more than a week away from that Droid heaven I was talking about earlier!

Immense is right, I took it off the dock @ 100% battery and 15 min later it was @ 60%. I don't know what's up, but it ain't good.
I took my froyo powered droid off the charger for church this morning at 830am, and it has held good charge all day even with me playing with it non stop:D Im running the 1.2 ghz OC kernal as well. At 835pm now im still showing 60% battery.

My only problem so far is with the maps not updating:mad:

I'm fairly sure it's not the rom itself, has to be an app; I just don't which one, lol.

The maps not updating in market is a known issue for everyone I think.

Confirmed that wireless tether for root users works for this.. So, why do we need the wireless tether that was supposed to come with Froyo? We're rooted, we already got and had it!!!! But, I also tested Barnacle wifi tether, and for some reason that would not work.. My computer showed it, but it didnt have any signal. But I just wanted to post this from my computer using wifi from my droid. Woot!

Thanks to BTdownloads for this possible fix:D

Maps update fix

I'm using Clockwork, so I'm not sure if this will work for SPR, but I don't see why not. I was able to repeat this twice just to make sure it worked, so here'e the process:

1. Using Root Explorer (or ADB) move Maps.apk to the SD card
2. restart the phone
3. install Maps.apk from the SD card (not from the Market)
4. Go to Settings-->Applications-->Manage Applications-->All and find Maps
5. Click on "Clear Data" and the "Uninstall"
6. You should now be able to go to the Market and install it from there

One less app to install and take up precious internal memory.

Hallelujah!!!

As soon as I moved the Maps.apk from /system/app and rebooted, my BT stopped working. It damn well better work after all this - I am gonna be one highly unhappy camper if it don't.

Mine just simply wouldn't charge past 40%.

I had another issue with it as well, which forced me to revert to CM5.0.7.1 tonight... Whenever I created a shortcut for either contacts or the phone (or direct dial contacts), I would get an error saying that the phone or contacts app wasn't installed. I needed my phone for work, so I had to revert. :(

Helix2 is not compatible. (Known problem... posts about it all over various forums.)

Helix1 works, but force closes every single time you hit the home button from the app drawer or from within an app. You have to ok the message, then hit home again in order to get back to your home screen.

LP and adw don't go all the way to the top of the screen, so my transparent statusbar is just black... no wallpaper behind it. This is something I am just not willing to live without. Nor are customizable buttons across the bottom.

I also had to revert to CM in order to download Helix1 and create a backup of the APK, since helix1 and helix2 don't show up in market with froyo.

I am trying to weed through all of the issues, but it is very tough when I have to keep reverting to CM for various reasons. Major time consumption.

Tried this, and no dice so far. :(

Same here. Maps is installed on my phone but won't update from the market. I've moved the maps.apk from the app folder to the sd card and then installed it using root explorer. Then going to applications doesn't give me the option to clear data, and it only lets me uninstall update, not uninstall the app. maps still won't update from the market.

Same here - I am going to reinstall the original and wait.

OK, I figured out how to install maps from the market. Using the previous directions, I was able to change around some things:

1. Using Root Explorer move Maps.apk to the SD card
2. delete the Maps.apk from /system/app/
3. install Maps.apk from the SD card (not from the Market) using Root Explorer
It will ask if you want to replace the system app, choose yes.
4. Go to Settings-->Applications-->Manage Applications-->All and find Maps
5. Click on "Clear Data" and the "Uninstall"
6. You should now be able to go to the Market and install it from there

Tell me if this works for you too.

Ok, I just tried to make a ringtone with the app ringdroid, never had any problems with it till I put this rom on my phone. Now it won't save ringtones that I have made anymore.

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

So I followed the instructions in the OP for Clockwork. I wiped everything beforehand, but when it was done installing, it said this:

E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(No such file or directory)
Can't mount /sd-ext/!

I'm gonna reboot it now to see what happens, but will this be a problem?
