Root [Rom]AOKP For Motion[Port]

I'm having trouble rebooting into recovery. I hit the power button - reboot - recovery. The LG screen blinks like it's going to let me go into the recovery but instead the boot animation comes on and stays that way until I pull the battery. Tried again and again but nada.

hit the volume buttons till recovery pops up

Does not work and I've done the recovery boot several times before on other roms.

Something may have went wrong with your zip download. Re download and flash. clear data if you have to, always clear dalvik cache and normal cache.

Just flash and clear dalvik cache.

All apps optimized and zipaligned. Should improve battery life, more system space, and apps should run more efficiently. Hopefully this would fix the heated phone problem also :p

Link also in op.

Screen brightness?

The overheating issues is with the gas fix I think because I'm on bobz cm10 and my phone is usually gets worm as I do simple things and hot if I start making calls and using the net.

I ran into this because of having 2nd init recovery installed when cm10 has its own recovery, (accessible via power-off menu) . Had to unbrick to fix it.
