Root [ROM]AOSP ShiftTh3ory

i just flashed the theme choser version. doesnt seem to be a whole lot different than the old burn mod pack. only thing immediately obvious is the transparencey in the pull down is darker.

also, its letting me chose between old burn mod and new by picking "system" to get back to the old :)

edit: also, fyi the lockscreen pictured is the "lense" style in cm settings. it looks cool but im not sure if i like it.

I'm very disappointed in 1.2. To make a long story short, I successfully got the stock (white) gmail working with burn so everything else was gray. Can't be done on 1.2 unless you use theme chooser, which I already use for my own theme I made. I'm probably in the minority making my own theme, but why he got rid of the zip and made it in theme chooser is foolish, IMO.

hate to make you tell a long story, but help me understand why you cant get white gmail to work with gray everything on 1.2,without using theme choser.

Because the only way to get burn on 1.2 is to install and chose theme in theme chooser. I don't use any theme but my own, therefore no gray apps for me on 1.2. I've been in and out of recovery 20 times trying different combos to get it to work and no dice. So it's go back to 1.1 and push white gmail, or stay on 1.2 and have everything stock

hmm... i flashed the original burn mod pack over 1.2 and it worked fine. maybe you got your them chooser burn and original burn mixed up?

seems you could take the original burn mod pack, open the system/app folder, and then take out the gmail .apk and youd get your burn back, plus not have to screw with pushing the white gmail :)

sure you dont want me to email it to ya or upload it?

The original burn pack had the gray email, not the white. I pushed the white gmail and it worked fine. I tried doing the same with the old burn pack and got FC's out the ass on 1.2. The new burn back didn't do anything on 1.2 for me. Plus he updated 1.2 to all the new gapps so I'm guessing that's why I had all the FC's.

It's confusing, but basically I'm left with a themeless shift and white gmail or a themed shift and black gmail. I want my cake and wanna eat it too, but not happening

so what would happen if:
-took original "flash in recovery and dont have to chose in theme choser" burnpack mod and deleted the gray gmail.apk from system/app
-booted to recovery
-wiped cache/dalvik
-reflashed 1.2(get white gmail back,right?)
-wipe cache/dalvik
-flash gmailless original burn pack mod(so white gmail is left alone)
-reboot
-reapply your custom theme
?

sorry if im having some sort of blonde moment,im still not completely undertanding why the above wont work.

The original burn pack FC's the new gapps on 1.2. I'm going back to 1.1 and unless he starts doing stand alone theme zips again I probably won't be using his ROMs anymore. This has been the biggest PITA I've ever gone through with a ROM in my life. I've gone for 100% to 30% all from rebooting and booting into recovery trying to get this to work

edit: you can't delete an apk from a zip without resigning it.

thats so wierd. im not having any FCs on anything. all my grey apps are woking fine with 1.2 gapps, and my phone is running spectacularly.

and like you,i didnt format /system.

sorry your having such trouble with it :(

forgot to mention ive got a file re-signer :D

let me know if you want a modded origianl burnpack,i got it whipped up and signed allready :)

Thanks, I'm already flashing 1.1. I can't get the burn pack to work on 1.2 and that's the only reason I'm on this ROM so it makes no sense to stay on 1.2. What modded burn pack are you talking about?

edit: what do you use to sign your zips? I use autoapktool and it's great

i figured you had that technology, with all the customizing you like to do with your themes.

i use PPCGeeks APK & ZIP Signer

it works great,it opens up on the desktop when you click the shortcut, and then you just drag an unsigned file into it. it spits out a signed file in the original folder, right under the original unsigned file. gives you a message that the signing went correctly.

i played around a lil with making zips to change the launcher and different system apps on the eris. :)

I have and use one, I just am so pissed that I wasted my whole day on this BS all because DT decided it'd be a good idea to 86 the ignition pack that I didn't want to waste more time signing and flashing, ya know.

Autoapktool does the same thing basically

BTW, upload that modded pack when you get a chance. I'll take a look at it after I put this phone down for a few hours lol

Hey guys i was wondering what the best kernel to use for battery life is. I just flashed the SHIFTAO5P v1.2 with whatever kernel it came with (2.6.35.14 jdkernel+jdkoreclipse@buildbox #5). Any ideas? Thanks in advance

I use Imoseyon's LeanKernel 3.5.8 and the battery is great. A few others are using it as well. His kernels are so good they're an automatic flash for me after any ROM.

lol,i just took out the gmail .apk,so when you flash it,it should upate the other apps to grey, but leave white gmail alone :)

Do you mind sending me a link to the Imoseyon LeanKernel 3.5.8 all i find is the 3.5.11 and i hear its not better than the 3.5.8. Read somewhere someone got about 20hrs from heavy use

I just noticed something when i was messaging my friend on gtalk. i would have full signal but my 3g signal would just go out for no reason. Does this mean i would have to flash a new radio?

just noticed this. uploaded to:

i just flashed it and it worked fine, nothing wierd happened. of course it didnt change anything either since i didnt reflash 1.2 to make my gmail white again. :)

curiosity got the better of me,since i dint format stupid /system as reccomended. so for sh*ts and giggles,i booted to recovery, wiped cache/dalvik,formated /system,and reflashed 1.2.

hmm,now i got white gmail back,so i flashed the special zip and it worked fine. grey mms, phone, dialer, contacts, and unmolested white gmail :)

for whatever thats worth anyway.

i feel like my phone is yet a lil smoother after formatting system, but it may well be the placebo affect :o:D

curious wether any one else followed or didnt follow the directions and what your thots were on the way that you flashed.

it depends on your definition of "heavy use". ive discovered that peoples internet claims of battery life are alot like their claims of fuel mileage on the diesel truck forums ;) i.e. somewhat exagerated.

i persoanally get about 8 hours of my "heavy use". but for me,this is constant messing with my phone-turning on the display to just check the time, constant checking email, phandroid, xda, and words with friends apps, and 2-3 hours(or more )of voice calls over bluetooth with BT connected the entire time. thats with 3g toggled on,and no wifi.

i have hit your 20 hour mark while at home in wifi, with much more moderate use.
I just noticed something when i was messaging my friend on gtalk. i would have full signal but my 3g signal would just go out for no reason. Does this mean i would have to flash a new radio?

what radio do you have? if youve got the stock mr2 radio,it may be worth flashing to a newer one to see if your prollem disapears.

I guess im using the stock mr2 radio, i noticed that when i use the 3g/4g toggle and only use 3g (not in a lte area fully yet) then the 3g is stable. I just never had to disable the lte when i was just on sense
