[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

I saw that. Almost seems like he took me seriously. He must be thinking of some rescaling scheme. I was just looking for something simple like dropping in a 4" lcd. lol. :-)

Uncle! I can't keep up!!! I still haven't found anything wrong with 3/7.

Don, are we the only two left over here still using the Hero?

Fine by me less work, I think there are others , they simply lurk, it would be nice for peeps to post there findings

Boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe davlik, then go to mounts and storage and format cache, then flash today's release along with the new Gapps

if i have the 2/27 do i need to wipe? what is the process for not wiping but flashing 3/08?

Just flashed today's latest (thanks DonB for updating us so regularly):

aospCMod-20110308-signed.zip
MD5: 04195dee9d3d68000d6bb8ede8abef72
gapps-gb-20110307-signed
MD5: 29efd1cc5457849b10d4f0dc31f7f04c

and find that I'm still having problems with GPS and google navigation. After a certain period of time (today was 20 minutes after I started using google nav), it just shut down and rebooted. Meant I had to pull over in a not-too-desirable part of town and just wait for phone to reboot and then started GPS again - but this has happened pretty much every time I've used the GPS and google nav. Usually happens after 20 mins or half an hour. Didn't have this problem before I rooted.

Yeah, this is why I usually end up restoring a Nandroid I have of AOSP Android 2.2 when I go on longer trips. It has reliable GPS lock on.

I hope that AOSP can fix the GPS quirks on AOSP Android 2.3 soon because other than that I love that ROM. It is a great one.

:mad:Crap! I just got 3/07 and made a big stink about it. Soooo, I should use Titanium Backup to backup my apps to my sd before I flash to 3/08? What happens if I follow your steps on #534?

These 2 files are old, LOL

Nope. Just boot into recovery and wipe cache and go into Advanced and wipe Dalvik cache, followed by Partitions (or Mounts and Storage) and format cache.

Then you can flash the 3/8 AOSP Android 2.3 ROM over top of your existing one. No worries at all.

Great! I looked at the changelog and all it said is it sync'd with CM source. Looked at that and stopped there . I think I'm going to hold on to 3/07 for a while

I flashed 3/7 over 3/6 without issue. No motivation to move yet. I can't handle nightlies!

All my gps issues have been cleared up. Very few complaints on xda with gps with last few releases.

Have you tried the trick of flashing a sense rom and ##gpsclrx ##? Don't have directions in front of me, but it may help.

I also used gpsstatus from market and cleared gps status.

May also want to try Sprint nav app to see if it works.

I used navigation Saturday for 35 minutes w/o issues.

That is fine but make a Nandroid first

I am having some issues with this mod.

1. every morning when I take my phone off the charger I get a Warning message.

Some API can't be called successfully in your phone, please try to restart your phone to fix it at first;
If restart can't fix this issue, plese send email to me. thank you very much.

It has an OK icon that I click and it goes away.

2. I get gmail working no problem, but the other email app will not work. I can't even get through the setup. I flashed back to stock RUU last week to take my phone in for a speaker replacement and had zero problems with the email app. I would stay running stock but it is so freaking slow.

3. I only have a few ringtones and notifications available when I try to select them for handcent, gmail, voicemail etc., but I have a bunch of sounds/ringtones on my SD card from CM6. What directory does this mod use for sounds/ringtones?

That's it for now. Keep up the great work!!

Are you using the latest version, and did you wipe cache and davlik, and also format cache in partitions

Don, are we the only two left over here still using the Hero?

Nope, you're sure not. :D I'm about to go from the 2/25 build to the 3/8 build. I like to let my ROM fully cook into my phone before I switch out for a new one. Plus, it's usually after a week or two when all the real gremlins come out to play and make me wanna clean house.

Well here is what I would do, do a Nandroid backup, then wipe cache, then wipe Davlik, then go to mount and storage and format cache, once done back out and flash today's latest release I posted, once done then flash the latest Gapps from March 7, then reboot and report back

No, I am using the 20110301 version. Yes I wiped cache and davlik. I did not format cache in partitions however.

There is no longer an option to wipe cache in recovery? That is odd. I ran CM6 for so long that I hadn't nandroided for months so when I rooted my phone again I used the one click method and darchstars recovery. It is different than I remember. I'll give it a go anyway. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks.

OK go to the market and download Clockworkmod and the open and flash the recovery image, then once done we will have you boot into recovery and wipe as mentioned. To boot into recovery, you hold the volume down button and the end key at the same time for 2 seconds, then once prompted hit the home key to get into recovery, then do s backup, once there wipe as mention, then flash both Rom and Gapps and then reboot
