[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

Ok, you guys are awesome! Thanks to everybody for their help/suggestions. The full wipe did it. I'm up and running now, complete with the Google apps!

What min clock are you running? Cmsettings->performance. Don't go below 264 if you use Pandora.

My min setting is at 176 and max at 691. I bumped the min to 264 and Pandora seems stable on high quality. Thank you. Should I bump the min and max higher or leave it at 264 and 691? Is there anything else I should change in the performance area? I noticed that Compcache RAM usage is disabled but there is a default label at 18%. Should I leave it disabled or set it to something diff?

Thank you
John

Glad you got it going, enjoy

I have mine set to 264/710 ondemand right now. No jit, Compcache and vmheap at defaults.

Top end is an experiment. My phone is really stable at 768. I dropped to 710 today because I got a reboot with gps and thought I would try at 710.

I'm having some issues after flashing 3/8. Sometimes apps won't open, they just sit on a black screen, and whenever I exit an app, my home screens are blank with just wallpaper on them until I press Home again. There is some lag too.

Try booting into recovery. Then, once in recovery, wipe cache, go into Advanced and wipe Dalvik cache, and then go into Mounts and Storage (or Partitions) and format cache.

If that does not solve your problems, then you may need to do a clean flash of your ROM and GApps. Make a Nandroid before you do any of the above things.

What launcher are you using? Might want to check 'home in memory'

I just flashed this ROM on the wife's phone...so far so good. It takes me a long time to set things back up the way I know she likes them, but it's worth it. :) Love the ROM so far!

You can set up faster if you use Titanium Backup. Just backup the apps that require the most set up or that have saved game progress, like Angry Birds. When you sign into a new ROM for the first time your handset will automatically download all of your old apps.

I usually let it do that and then just restore the data to the ones that I backed up using Titanium Backup. It works great. You can also just bypass letting your handset download the old apps and reinstall them via Titanium Backup as well. I prefer the former method though because it somehow is faster for me and works well in my case.

+1 TB works great

I flashed this rom over the 03/08 ROM, and now I am experiencing lots of lag. I was also experiencing heavy battery drain after flashing. I wiped the dalvik, reflashed the rom, and then reflashed the radio. The battery drain has improved, but still getting lots of lag. Any suggestions?

Do you have JIT enable, if yes disable it, then what launcher are you using, try Launcher Pro, also download Spare parts app and change screen transition to Fast, see if that helps, if not then you will have to do a full wipe.

I just wanted to thank you all for the great info in this thread. I am running the 03/03 version of AOSP and am happy as a clam at the moment. I am also using the ZEAM launcher per some recommendations from the huge XDA thread. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but man is it fast.

Also, just some input on my experiences of flashing 4 different ROMS from AOSP thus far. I have always done a full wipe and never had any of the market issues or GPS lock issues that have plagued many. Until the blank screens during calls issues are resolved, I am not planning to upgrade again as I think the 03/03 version works great, along with excellent battery life.

Again thank you all for turning me on to this great ROM.

I do have a slightly off-topic question. I have recently DLed Angry Birds for my kids to play. I lags so bad on my phone that its unplayable. I never played it before on any other builds or even as stock. Are the CDMA Heros unable to play it or is there something I need to do to the phone to speed it up? I am using the stock kernel from the 03/03 AOSP CM7 build and nothing to change CPU speeds, no JIT or anything.

Thanks.

I think you need to DL Angry Birds Lite. I don't think the Hero can handle the original.

I have played on asops froyo rom, it didn't make my phone unusable, but it was slow. once you play on ipod or ipad, you'll never play on a hero again. Not a gaming machine!

The Adfree Android app makes for a wonderful playing experience!

It runs pretty choppy on the Sprint HTC Hero if you do not overclock. There is a setting in the latest version of Angry Birds to switch to the a "lite" version which is easier on the CPU of older handsets.

Also, if you turn off your mobile data and/or Wi-Fi while playing you will get rid of the advertisements which speeds things up considerably. I hope this information helps you out.

You still having issues, LBP said he got you squared away ??

Problem after installing gingerbread. Unsuccessful downloads from the market. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix?
