[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

That is correct, but you figure that Koushikk would have modify the latest version of RM, to take the new recovery and and simply allow you to update the radio through Hboot

Ah, I see now and this thread explained Amend versus Edify scripting to me pretty well: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ems-after-clockworkmod-updated-3-0-0-5-a.html .

So, basically, the radios were not able to be flashed because they were built using Amend scripting instead of Edify scripting which ClockworkMod version.3.0.0.1+ utilizes. It totally makes sense now.

what do you mean by full format? when i upgraded from 3/26 to 4/21 i did not wipe because i didnt want to hehee but how was i suppose to do a full format? i did the usually wipe cache, wipe davik, format cache and then flashed the GB zip and the gapps zip.... should i have done something else?

**sigh**
Yeah....full format gets rid of Dingle berries!

wipe data/Factory Reset
Wipe cache Partition
advanced \ wipe davlik cache

MOUNTS AND STORAGE
Format System
Format data
Format Cache
Format Boot

Then Flash Rom & Gapps = STORAGE SPACE

Good point. I guess this also explains why flashing to older Sense based ROM does not work too well with ClockworkMod 3.0.0.1+ because of the scripting thing.

Sadly, I feel that our venerable Sprint HTC Hero is going to be left in the dust for the next iteration of Android. At least by bigger developers like CyanogenMod. The European version of our handset has already been ousted due to lack of a developer. At least that is what I heard the last time I checked.

These are pushing 2 years old and were the flagship device for a VERY quickly Changing and groeing software. I am thrilled to have what do!

Oh, so am I. I was not lamenting what we have at all and I know that our hardware is really aging. ;)

Android has been kept alive on even the oldest handsets despite being dropped by bigger ROM developers, like CyanogenMod. It just sort of is a sign of the times when you see that the European version of our handset has had its support dropped.

Well, I am still very new to this but I just switched over from cyanogenmod 7.0.2 to this just to check it out. Are either one of them better than the other? So far it looks and feels good.

Jester - AOSP builds tend to be a little slimmer and a little faster.
There is a GPS Reboot bug not nailed down yet...
But other than that...aosp2.3.3 FTW!~

Nice, I am liking it so far. It will be good when GPS gets fixed since I useit all the time. I have noticed the speed which is nice. Thanks for the info

So is this the latest release?

Sure is Mavrik. Its running real smooth and quick. I would put up the circle mod for you but the guy who makes them made it in a hurry and it currently won't let it load past the HTC screen. But if he posts a working one ill get it up for you

No biggie on the circle mod. I'm using some theme chooser themes from XDA right now and the circle only shows up half the time. It's like the theme and the circle mod were fighting for position of something.

Sure did and no issues, he tweeted that it is 2.3.4 but still shows version 2.3.3

MD5 should be 7d3a809f93b16988dde9b0a2cca25b48

Isn't it jacked up and hence why aosp took it down? i'm going off Il Duce's comment:

"No it really is 2.3.3, aosp posted in here that 2.3.4 was a wonky build, so he reverted to 2.3.3. I would guess in the next build or two you will see 2.3.4."

:confused::confused::confused:

No, he meant that 2.3.4 was wonky and decided not to post that, he took the OP file down which had nothing to do with 2.3.4, he never posted that file

ahh, I see! thanks for the clarification.

hey, on another note, i'm about to update to this latest version from aosp 2.2.1, and when doing titanium backup, should I just do titanium user apps, or user apps + system data. I'm on v3.6.7, if that matters. thx!

User apps,or you can have Google restore your apps for you

It is good to hear that AOSP Android 2.3.4 is being worked on though. I want to see if my Sprint HTC Hero can be a makeshift security camera with my B&N Nook Color as the security monitor. :D

Also, as for the GPS, my friend and I went on a long trip the other day and the GPS stayed locked for many hours with no issues. On the way back it glitched once in Google Navigation, but all we needed to do was restart the app and all was well.

I was wondering about 2.3.4 the Hero side of things, I was just curious. I know CM7.1/2.3.4 is coming soon so..... On a side note, kind of cool with 2.3.4 on the Evo and GTalk, pretty cool new feature with the video chat.

ahh... i was hasty and went with user apps + system data. nothing installed back to sd card. i don't know whether I'd call that unfortunate since everything loads so fast compared to froyo now that its back on internal memory. coincidentally, i have about the same amount space on /data, but now w/ all the apps on this partition as opposed to before where virtually everything had been moved to sd card or /system. i know that I need to jump on board Firerat's Custom MTD Partitions to make /system smaller but neither here nor there right now.

what are the ramifications of adding + system data? I always wondered what the nuanced differences is between this and the other data restore modes in titanium.

incidentally, nothing shows up in market that has been restored, so was thinking of reinstalling vending.apk from gapps as this fixed the problem of linking apps in the past.

edit: one other thing. colin's ph batt tweak v2 should work okey dokey w/ this rom yes? i prefer i to all else for choosing governor/scheduler/min-max, etc.

vending.apk didn't fix it. nor did clearing market cache. now i'm second guessing whether market links was checked in TB 0.6.7 in 2.2.1. But I'm 99.9% sure it was as I believe it is by default. Market Doctor won't fix tho.

I remember having this problem w/ aosp and strangely the problem corrected itself but after an install (or three) or vending.apk upated. now, i'm at a loss as to what to do. could try reinstalling 2.3.4 w/ only user apps (not system data) but don't think that would make a difference nor do I fundamentally understand the difference between + system data vs + user data.

on another note batt doesn't seem as good though could be uncalibrated. would like to switch to noop scheduler and run various other tweaks in colins ph availabl evia cyanogen settings. expert settings. will try tht today and report back results.

Anyone else having trouble getting the phone to wake during a call? I'm not sure if I'm just missing a setting somewhere, but the only way to get the screen back up during a call is to hit the 'end key', but that also simultaneously ends the call... it's a bit of a bother trying to get through services that require input (banking, VM, and such)
I'm I missing something somewhere, or do I need to just try a new reflash?
