Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

is there a way to disable the slide lock in this ROM? i hate having to unlock it everytime i wake up my phone. i am stupid so please step by step me. thanks:D

No, I don't have that problem. For some reason, my MIN has "hashing problems" according to Verizon.

Go to the market and download No Lock, then add the widget to your home screen, and you can change whether you want to unlock it or not anytime.
 
My battery life sucks. I just hit 80% at 4.1 hours with VERY little use. Display time was less than 20 minutes. My phone is set up exactly as it was with stock 2.3.340. With stock, I was hitting 80% around 8 hours with pretty heavy use. Any ideas?
 
I'm not experiencing any problems on my DX.

Actually, now with Apex, my reception has improved, web browsing greatly improved, hands-free voice dialing improved, and my battery life is amazing.

I'm on the phone most of the day, then charge at night.

I'm wi-fi connected for calls and Internet, so that may have something to do with it, but I still get great speed and battery life on 3G away from home.

I just followed the dev's instructions carefully, here, http://wiki.fabdroid.com/index.php?title=Installation - and did exactly what he said. This was my first attempt at rooting from stock, and though I was sweating bullets when I did it, it was simple and easy and I'm glad I did it.

Now that I have my phone set up exactly like I want it, what is the preferred way of backing the whole system up to the SD card, bootstrap, Titanium?

for the whole system I prefer a nandroid backup from the bootstrap. otherwise i backup using titanium when i switch ROMs

Nandroid backup from bootstrap will allow to restore to exactly how the phone was when you backed up, immensely useful.

That'll turn off the startup script. I'm going to have to play around with that a little more, as it's causing some users issues :(

I can confirm that this fixes the issue with hot rebooting. Just did it. Although, my issue was when trying to restart after setting my LCD density using an app that "hot reboots"

I would say my battery life is similar to yours, I have to plug in during the day to make sure I can make it through. I have only my Droid X a couple weeks and I have tried to keep useage down but I am also disappointed in battery life.
 
to any one having issues lately......have you guys done your installs correctly?wiped data/cache?are you installing themes on top of each other?are you restoring data with tibu?...i only ask since something has to be wrong i am not saying anyone having problems has not followed directions and apex is perfect but i and many others have had a smooth run ,,,maybe this is also due to the x being so fickle from one build to the next kind of the way it is with overclocking,,,,just trying to remind anyone who is having issues to make sure it might not be user error
 
I get a system force close every now and again as well as a little lag lately. I have auto killer set to ultimate. Turning it down to extreme for now to see if that was the issue. Anybody else seeing this?
 
Another compliment for this ROM is that the hands free voice dialing works like a swiss watch now. One thing I missed about the blackberry and Vlingo.

Somehow I changed the the English US default to Australian English (just liked the ladies voice), but would like to switch it back to US English and forgot where that setting was. Anyone know?

I installed it correctly, but i DID restore apps+data via Titanium... Should I not have done that?

Chances are I did something wrong installing ApeX on my DX, it was my first and only Rom install.
What do you suggest I do at this point to fix it?

Well some people do restore data through tibu and don't have problems while others have.....if there is data from an app that may be causing problems or something then if you restore it you may be restoring a problem ......unless the data is vital to you then it may be best to just not restore data and redo your settings and as far as the apps themselves go after you install a rom that requires data wipe on install and you go through the process of signing in to your google account etc...turn on wfi and open up the market and your apps will auto restore through the cloud ....this usually takes 5-10 minutes at the most and if you notice one or two did not install just go to your list of downloads via market and they should be there .....when installing a new rom I think its best to have a "clean"install ....full data/cache wipe while installing from a clean base and not restoring data .....some may think this may be overkill but I personally have flashed almost every rom out and found this method works best :D

After you rooted hopefully you made a backup prior to installing a rom that you can restore and flash apex again (this is your most important backup for rom installs and accepting ota when they are released without a headache)if you didnt then you can either just try to reinstall apex and wipe data cache upon install and hopefully you wont have issues ...if problems persist then I would sbf ....make a backup then reinstall apex

Yes I made all the recommended backups including the Stock_OTA backup. I want to redo and do things right. Can you tell me what SBF stands for?

I know I saw a thread on how to SBF with links for the needed files, but now for the life of me I can't find it again, I would appreciate a little help finding it again.

If you have that stock backup there is no need to sbf ....just restore your backup and reinstall apex .....I can't remember what the technical term is for sbf ....but you will not need to sbf as long as you have the backup or you brick your phone
