Root [ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC2) (6/11/2011)

Hi all, I'm brand new to the forum scene but I've been trying to break my DX since I got it (2 days after release)! I got .596 deodexed and rooted and installed Apex RC2... This build is amazing! Smooth as silk and fast as I could ask for! Great job Fab!!

Now my question, am I doing something wrong or am I correct that bouchigo's 270 degree rotation mod does not work with RC2?

I don't see why it shouldn't work. All that mod does is replace the BlurHome.apk with one that he changed the rotation value.

That's kinda what I figured... I've tried it several times at this point and no luck. Something that simple shouldn't require cache wipes, correct?

yeah I dunno. Maybe Bouchigo can take a look and see what's up. I'll try this later tonight but I've got to go to work now :(

Hey everyone, just flashed RC2. So far so good. I like the Apex lockscreen wallpaper but would like to change it eventually. How do you get that done?
 
Seems to be running okay with REVOlution installed.
Two issues....
I cant rotate into landscape.
And my email LED notification is a white color.

Is there any fixes?
 
Im running Apex 2.0 RC2.
How do I get the FM radio app from stock blurr??

I typed:
"su
sys -rw
cp /sdcard/FMRadioService.apk /system/app
chmod 755 /system/app/FMRadioSerice.apk"



Didnt get anything????

check out his second post. Download the respective file. And flash it. No need for terminal emulator.
 
@ FAB,
Here's the issue I had earlier brought to your attention in the OG messy merged thread...

After entering my password to connect to my router or any other encrypted router, the connect button remains faded....no matter what.
My install comes from an sbf'd .340 upgraded to .596 with P3's 2 part upgrade / then ApeX following ApeX instructions to the T.
I thought maybe the issue was possibly the radio itself in my phone, but tested wifi before ApeX....but it worked fine. :(

I remember reading from a post (trying to find it but can't) where this was happening to another user. He came to the conclusion that the update requires an 8 character password or something like that.

I went and reset my router all together. I changed password to an 8 character string. No go.
I then changed password to a 13 character string.
Connected after 4 attempts, but still no internet.
I even swapped out routers.
I own another DROID X, currently stock .596 Rooted. No issues w/ wifi.
Xoom, no issues.
Droid1 CM7...no issues.
Something screwy going on.
I absolutely know the upgrade path and process & such.
I am a big time fan of ApeX, and know that its nothing but the best and most dependable.
I am starting to lean towards the idea that I might indeed have a bad radio in this particular DX.
Going to run some tests with this phone...Might be replacing very shortly.

That's just weird then. Hopefully the full ApeX will have it fixed.
 
Ok, needing some help. I'm on the stock OTA gingerbread and want to flash to this Apex RC2. How do i do this? Since i'm not rooted and I can't just root the OTA with z4 app and i can't run clockwork recovery without being rooted.

Please help! OTA gingerbread is killing me!
 
I just ran into a bug. I am using the clock app that came with the apex. When I try to set the ringtone alarm and select "Android system" it reboots. This has happened four times now. Anyone else seeing this?

That particular problem is definitely a Gingerbread bug. First off, stop using WEP. It's crackable in about 30 seconds by anyone with a laptop.

WEP works on incorporating the shared key into the encryption, so you need certain length keys - so there are sanity checks on key lengths for any software that joins WEP networks. However, 64-bit WEP is allowed to have a 5 character key but Gingerbread doesn't think that's valid.

In any event, though, switch to WPA. Seriously.

Come on now. You're running a custom ROM on your phone. SBF back to FroYo and factory reset (NO APPS INSTALLED), and test your Wifi. I bet it works fine. Then upgrade to Gingerbread and try it.

The reality is, the chance of you actually having a bad radio are slim to none.
