Root ROM choice

Jeffery

Android Enthusiast
My brother is coming for Christmas and I plan to root his DX. I still have the D1.
What's a good ROM for speed and good battery life?

In my opinion the top two are:

ApeX 1.3.1
Tranquility 3.6.0 w/Toolbox update

I keep bouncing back and forth between them. Both solid ROMs.

A blurry rom is the easiest, like Rubix Blurry, but Apex isn't too bad and comes with a black theme. You'll need to look at the scripts to get email and office re-installed.

I rock Fission. I played around with the new apex but didn't see anything that was going to make me stay with it. I also tried the new Tranq but it was worse than apex. Apex is a good rom it just has too much blur for me still. My battery life is epic on Fission 2.4.2 and we are constantly getting updates. The coolest thing about fission is the fission rom manager where the dev posts new roms/updates and themes, apps, and overclock settings.

As a guide to newbies, I recommend apex 1.3.1.. it's the most stable, imo. Gl!

The other issue is that FAB is available for tech support.

Speaking of which?
I want to encourage folks to financial devs for the apps they use! :)

^I agree with everything here.

I tried ApeX 1.3.0 and I quickly switched back to Fission. It's just overall snappier and I love that my battery lasts "long time" :D

Black and white does nothing for me. It's like wearing a white shirt and black tie... YECH!

That's one reason I like the NexTheme, it's colorful.

I've been on a black and white trend for about the past 4 months. Not really sure why. Don't get me wrong I still go with colors about 2 or 3 days a week but I personally just think black and white just look "clean" together.

Steve, pretty sure it's the Revolution theme from the last version of ApeX. Dissected white circle with the number in the middle battery display in the notification bar. Pretty much all black and white.

Second one down.

I had random reboots with both Tranq and RubiX even when not OC'd. Fission was super stable and fast. Chevy SSX was also really stable but it has lots of blur I believe. Dark Slide also worked great for me.

I do believe I owe ApeX a shot.
