Root [ROM] CROMi-X

Need some help, please:
I have just unlocked-and rooted my TF700T.
I have downloaded the CROM-Xenogenesis zip file on my computer.
Who do I install it. Do I need to copy it to the internal memory or to the
microSD card?

Install GooManager.

Open goo and tap menu button and choose "install open recovery". It might reboot to do this.

Copy your CROM-X file to your sdcard, preferably in the GooIm folder.

From Goo, choose to flash a rom, find your CROM file, choose backup, wipe data and wipe caches (check all 3 checkboxes). Goo should boot into TWRP (the open recovery it just installed), make a backup and flash your rom. If you leave the backup name empty (which I always do), it'll use the date and time. You can always rename it later.

Now the icky part... When it's done backing up your current rom, and CROM-X installs, you'll have to pick which apps you want installed, what kernel to use (I usually do the defaults on most of those), etc. You can always uninstall apps later.

Sorry, this was from memory, so I might not have the exact folder names, etc. I'm sure you can figure it out. :D

I have installed the ROM, works nicely.
The only thing I need to take care of is the multi-language keyboard. On the stock ROM I was able to set up various languages that I could access when pressing the globe icon on the keyboard. Now I only have US (all others are greyed out).. Maybe I need to re-install the WW version of the ROM...

Very possible. You should be able to flash the rom again, but choose different options this time. I did that when I chose the small fonts and regretted it. :D
 
Several betas have been posted and a RC. Users claim v.5.0 with "Extreme Tweaks" flies. :D

There are some minor issues with Hund's kernel so expect a new build or way of updating the kernel soon.
 
I'm on RC2, it does seem a little 'smoother' than CromiX 4.7.
I haven't had time to try much in the way of tweaks, pretty much just installed it and started using it.
 
Same here, it seems a bit hard on the battery, but it's a better overall experience. I know how to charge a battery overnight, so that's not really a problem. :)
 
Have you guys run LagFix? The premium version is on sale right now too (I bought it last month). :D

It's included with CROMI and comes in handy for devices that aren't on 4.3 yet.
 
I'm aware it's installed with Cromi but I've never run it.
Does it really make a noticable difference?
 
The more hours on your tab, the more you probably need it.

There's a reason Google added it to 4.3. :D

FWIW, I've run it on my Nexus 7, Transformer and Note II.
 
5.1 has been released and odexed builds are available now. :D

I'm running odexed 5.1 with that's kernel and left out the "extreme tweaks" and all the other tweaks and I think it's working better for me. With the ET I'd always end up with lags and hund's kernel wasn't as good on battery life. I'm seeing a lot of 2-3 ma during sleep where the lowest I'd see with hunds would be around 50 ma. Even the lag with Chrome seems better.
 
I believe it's actually 5.01. rather than 5.1 :)

That aside, I agree with what you think the best setup is. I'm using the U.S. version with _That's kernal, it's nice and responsive, no lags that I've noticed yet.
 
Well look who I found over here in Phandroid! Looks like you are the expert here on the TF700. I'm still researching my options while I'm letting my new/refurbed Infinity burn in for a while and let some of the warranty run out before I start messing around with updating it. Sure is not as easy as the TouchPad. Unlocking, rooting, versions of bootloaders, , versions of Roms, Motochopper, CROMi-Xenogenesis vs. CyanogenMod, Fastboot vs. ADB vs. NVFlash vs. Debugfs, recovering from soft bricks, recovering from hard bricks, do I use CWM or TWRP, WW vs. US versions of the Rom, geez, my head is spinning. :confused:

I'll probably have some questions for you as I progress along. I've got like 15 links to threads and forums that I have found so far. Some are fairly up-to-date, some are not. Some info seems to contradict other info. Sure I'll be a regular here. :D This is definitely outside my comfort zone.

Latest TWRP works fine, if that's any help. Yup, tools are quite different. I turned off the sync stuff. Didn't have much use for it.

NT, do you have the dock or just the tab?
 
Just the tablet for now. I am very comfortable with using speech recognition to dictate posts and just about anything really. Just really tired of the laggy performance of the Asus based Android and all the crapware they install.

When the time comes, think I'm going to back up to .8 Rom and then use blackmambazzz tool to do most of the heavy lifting.

The keyboard dock is the only reason I ride the transformer line for 10.1 tablets except the nexus line like I do for everything else. If only they'd make a Padfone compatible with US LTE frequencies. :banghead:
