req, just to let you know... i modified your install script to only install the recovery for myself (not ready to switch to CWM, i need my phone ATM) and it boots into the 2.3.4 that im using just fine. currently doing a backup to see that it restores correctly.

just to make sure... if i update my kernel to your new one it wont boot up my current setup? (meaning if i update my kernel i MUST update my ROM, right?) havent tried it yet, thats why i'm asking...

one other question, just too help others... it should still be possible for anyone to restore old backups (CWM 5.0.2.7) by doing a selective restore of everything but the recovery image, correct?

Edit: nevermind, the backup went fine, cant restore it tho... oh well

In theory it should boot (ext4 is the default filesystem, with rfs as the fallback), but there's really no reason to use it unless you're going to use ext4.

since I didnt pay my bill and my phone is turned off I want to test this, but I dont know how to get adb to connect to my phone and run commands? can someone tell me how to do it if they have the time?

edit: or could I just delete the phone process for now until my bill is back and reflash cm? I just wanna play around with it haha

if u dont get how to stop the force closing do this:
adb shell
su
then right click+ paste (ctrl+v wont work, it'll just show ^v)

sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db 'update secure set value="1" where name="preferred_network_mode"'

should work..

Flash the rom and boot all the way up.....then recovery and flash the file.....never double flash without a boot in the middle.....ive tried this 4 or 5 times and worked everytime

I got an error while formatting /data. should I switch back to the old cwm and restore the data from there but keep the cm rom?

Nah, just flash the old CWM and do a full restore. I've got the phone crash issue resolved. I'll be releasing Alpha3 soon. And if data doesn't work this time I'm going to lose my shit lol.

ooooooooohhhhh how soon? I might just keep trying to figure out adb and wait for it. phones not good for much right now anyways

I would like to thank everyone who is testing this for our phones. I have done alot to my phone, but its all been easy install stuff. I would like to help with this but to be honest, I would know what to do if I was able to get it on my phone and I have no clue on how to help fix it. so once again, Thank you guys for helping the testing phase.

Once this gets to 100%. Will this be easier to install on our phones?
