[ROM] DarkSlide v4.1 - Updated 12/14/10

Here is the next phase in the evolution of DarkSlide. This build is based on the 2.3.340 build. You will need to at least be on 2.3.32 prior to loading this ROM. Gatesjunior and myself have really spent a tremendous amount of time coding and image work on this ROM and previous DarkSlides and we hope that this latest version is more than you expect it to be.

Myself, Gatesjunior and MyDroidWorld are not responsible for what you may do with or to your device. Load all custom ROMs at your own risk.

Whats in the ROM:

Same great look
Themed keyboard (updated in v4)
Themed Swype keyboard

Credit goes to p3droid, 928Droid, TBH and anyone I may have missed and all the other devs who have dedicated their time to the Android Community

Using this ROM now. It's insane. Sweetest ROM I've seen yet for the X. You have to be on 2.3.32 minimum before you flash it, so make sure you do that first.

I would be remiss if I did not comment on this new DarkSlide 4 Blur on my Droid-X.

This build is absolutely fantastic with the 2.3.40. I'd been using BlackHat Tranquility builds, but this DarkSlide outshines them all.

No glitches, no arbitrary reboots, no incompatibilities with any app or function, so far.

I am very happy to have installed this, and I look forward to future releases.

Thank you so much!

FIVE STARS!!!

Glad you like it.

I prefer Blur roms since I don't have to change anything I do or learn something new.

I have no relationship to the this rom's architects. I just posted it for those that like roms that are less hard core and stripped down.

Hi Gates,

A mod and I both tested this rom. I loved it but had the trouble of not being able to restore backed up apps from Titanium. I cleard data and cache. I advised the mod to sbf first. The mod had the same issue. The rom went kablooie after the mod tried to restore.

The mod is looking through your thread in the other forum to find a fix and is having difficulty. Is there a fix for this problem? TIA.

Steven

Tried this ROM tonight and it was very fast and smooth. One of the fastest "feeling" ROMS I have tried on the DX. Unfortunately I was unable to restore even a single app with titanium Backup. The second you tell it to restore an app, rather or not you include data, the device reboots

Never had this problem with TB before and it is my ,as well as many others, preferred method for restoring apps after flashing a new ROM. No system, only non system apps.

I was told by Steven58 he had problems restoring his apps after the install and I was determined to prove him wrong so I performed the most thoroughly clean install I could think of before proceeding. I SBFed the full .320 and then SBFed the .340 System and factory reset before booting to recovery, mounting system and wiping data/factory reset, then installed Darkslide v4.

Hoping maybe gatesjunior has some advice for us TB heads :D

BTW, welcome to the forums gatesjunior. We are happy to see you here and hope you enjoy your stay.

O.k. guys, lets try a few things. So after you Wipe/Data Factory reset and install the rom, try this. When the android guy comes up instead of tapping in the middle of the android guy to start the setup process. Tap first on the upper left corner and then each corner after that moving clockwise, this will skip the sync of market and google. Now, make sure in settings --> Applications you have checked to allow Unknown sources.

Once this is done, now install Titanium pro from your sdcard and tell it to restore missing apps and data. See what happens with this. Then you can sign into google and go through the normal setup process..

We really appreciate you help. Thank you. I cannot wait to try this and see if it works. Unfortunately I am working and wont be able to try this until either lunch or later this evening but I have high hopes!

Thanks again,
GMB

Ok, I just did a complete wipe and fresh install of the ROM and followed these directions and it sill reboots when attempting to run any installs. I also tried updating busy box to the current TB requested version but it still reboots.

Thanks for the tip about touching the corners clockwise. I didn't know it could be done that way. I usually just keep hitting the skip buttons to skip sign in.

OP: Simple fix. Any way to be able to get TiBuPro to work with this rom? I can see newbies getting heart failure over this. Otherwise, it's a handsome rom.

I didn't have any trouble restoring apps with Titanium Pro (apps+data) or MyBackup Pro (data-only).

With Ti I just restored one app at a time.

LOL, I've heard references to restoring by batch, but haven't delved into it yet.

[pressed menu button].... oh yeah, there's batch...

SO now I really want to know why it works for you but not for Steven and I.

I am using TB Pro Version 3.6.3.2 And I have tried running before and after market sign in. I am using the themed Darkslide market and have the unknown apps box checked.

What version of TB are you using?

GMB

Also running 3.6.3.2 under DarkSlide v4.0, after official OTA to 340.

Checked out batch.... scary stuff waiting to happen there. Seems like a nice way to hose your X.

I have about 2-3 backups available. Started at the bottom with a few that don't exist on my phone, they have a line thru them. Tapped on one, choose "restore", then app+data. Did a couple more, then one that already existed. Works every time.
