Root [ROM]DESTROYER...ready to wreck your evos face!!!!

in the aosp dialer, hit the contacts tab and then hold the menu key and it pulls up the keyboard - then just type the name or first couple of letters it works just like sense. no need for 2 dialers - go try it.

what I do not like about sense is that it always puts your contacts or history on top of the dialer.

Thanks! I figured there was something I was missing. That does make the dialer much better. I also find myself mis-dialing due to the history.

Haven't tried a new kernel, but I'm getting to that point soon.

Do you guys have the gmail themed icon that's shown in the screenshots on XDA? I've got the normal gmail icon and can't figure out how to get the themed one.

I'm nandroiding now. Gonna give this rom a try. Haven't run AOSP since I had my Hero. I just hope I don't have issues with my gps.
I was a Myns head for too long, now i'm stuck on Kings R2, or Koni. Seriously want to like this rom, I hope it works for me.

I've been on King's R2 pretty much since the release. I'm still getting used to this as it's my first non-sense ROM, but I'm really liking it.

One issue that I just noticed is that I can't listen to vm messages via my bluetooth. Voice calls work just fine. I posted on XDA for a fix, so will update if I get an answer. Is anyone else having this problem?

Just thought about something, I run CW recovery 2.6xx.
Do I need the 3.0xx CW recovery to flash this rom?
I don't think I do, But I'd rather ask first to be clear.

the gps issue is just that it may initially locate you off by a few blocks.

you can download GPS STATUS from the market and clear your gps cache. it should then lock onto you better.

Thanks for the tip on this. How long did it take to lock onto the GPS again after clearing it? Mines been spinning for about 5 minutes or so.

after I cleared I just backed out of gps status and opened google maps. it had me locked on by the time google maps was open.

Ok, thanks. Not sure what's going on with mine, but its quite a ways off and is jumping locations each time I open. I'll give the manual fix a try.

The only other problem I seem to be having is listening to vm messages via bluetooth. Is yours working ok?

so i have a couple of issues with this rom so far. first my notification bar icons, specifically the 3g and battery icons keeps switching back and forth. also i bump charge my phone and after rebooting my phone the green indicator light goes on, but i'm only at 93% charge. i even wiped dalvik cache and cache and see if that fixes it, but to no avail. i'm gonna give it another day and see if i can live with that or not because i like my setup right now. it is a cool rom for being aosp.

The battery light thing seems to be an AOSP thing. I had the same issue on vervolv. Are you using the battery mod that came with the gapps file or the one in the CM settings?

sorry, i'm new to aosp roms. so i flashed the gapps file is there anything else as far as using the battery mod? also in cm settings there is something like setcpu. should i be using that or can i still use setcpu as well?

The one in cm settings is like setcpu other than you can not set profiles that I know of. One of the versions of gapps offered with the rom had the round battery included. I am not using setcpu as I was using the SA governor before and it is offered through the cm settings

thanx, so i have the circle battery icon, but it will randomly switch to an upright battery icon then switch back. however,i just wiped earlier today again and it seems to be sticking with the circle icon. so it looking good so far.

Might have been a bad wipe. I havent had any issues with it at all yet. Only problem I am having so far is the black on black text on some apps making it hard to know what to select. Changing the theme seems to take care of it though

so even though google maps can pretty much find me spot on. when I try to navigate somewhere it will load the map and directions, but it will never move. and at the bottom of the map it just says searching for gps.

on sense when this would happen, updating your profile would be the fix. not sure what to do on aosp.

as far as VM goes. I'm not sure I have any visual type of voice mail at all. and no one has left me one so I have no idea how to test this. I guess I could call myself, but I'm no where near my bluetooth and I am about to switch back to sense. going out of town, don't to be messing with my phone that much.

yeah sounds like a bad wipe to me too. did you run calkulins format all zip? I usually manually wipe and run the zip twice just to make sure. Calkulin\'s_FORMAT_ALL.zip

also for battery meter accuracy you should try booting into recovery and wipe battery stats. wouldn't hurt to wipe cache's as well. then run through a full battery cycle and see how it acts.

When I go to Navigation-->Maps, I also get Searching for GPS and it doesn't ever connect. I thought it was because I was having other GPS issues (in Maps), but it sounds like there is something else going on.

For VVM, you have to install it from the EX-tra folder on your SD card. Use File Manager to navigate to EX-tra-->com.coremobility.app (this is the Sprint VVM app), and install it from there. I was unable to get mine working (I kept getting an error while trying to validate with the voicemail-to-text server), until I used TB to install data from a backup I created in a Sense ROM. I could then get my VVM's, but still can't listed to them via Bluetooth like I could before.

I hear ya on messing with it while away. I may have to switch back to Kings for the week and mess around again next weekend. I really like this ROM, so I'm no where near giving up just yet.

Some people still have issues with GPS not working correctly. I haven't had any issues since doing the ##GPSCLR# fix a couple weeks ago. It looks like CM7 RC3 might be released in the next few days so I might back this up and flash back to that to check out the changes for a bit as this is based on RC2.

I gave up the VVM fix and went with Google Voice. No issues with the notifications since they put the clear notification in the call menu again.

I'm using Google Voice as well now, and have no problems with notifications. But can you answer my question about voice mails and Bluetooth? Are you able to play your voice mails over a Bluetooth headset? As mentioned, I could before on Stock and Sense, but not on this ROM. (Edit: I didn't try Google Voice prior to this ROM, but I can't play vm's on Bluetooth over Sprint VVM either on this ROM).

Thanks.

I don't have a bluetooth to try it on. Might be someone else on here though that has used it and had luck with using bluetooth on it.

I'm back on my sense rom and gps is perfect with doing anything so I can't tell for sure. when I do the ##gpsclr# should I see my phone doing anything?

Its gonna probably be a couple of weeks before I flash another rom so I would like to do this and then start this rom off fresh when I get back in town. hopefully there will be some updates :)

flashed this and within an hour , back to vaelpak whic is good but its killing my battery, i also have myn rl5 on nandroid

Curious what you didn't like? I actually flashed back to Kings not long after flashing this as well. I wasn't used to AOSP and was having problems getting it setup how I wanted. But I ended up giving it a go again and it's really starting to grow on me. I still have a couple issues I'm trying to work through, but (I hate to say it), I think I like trying something other than Sense.

I tried vaelpak for a bit (probably not long enough), and I thought it was alright, but not great. I hear that's a great ROM, what do you really like about it?

I also gave MIUI a go, but iPhone flashbacks quickly killed that.

I think it boils down to, I really like the stability of Sense ROMs, but I'm starting to see the value in AOSP ROMs.
