Root [ROM] GingerSteem Extreme II for the LG Esteem MS910

Sorry guys about asking such a noob quetstion but I am needing a little clarification. If I am running software version ZVD I cannot run this rom? Is this correct? I have been trying to improve the performance of my esteem and updated to ZVD and now it seems like some the best roms are for ZVC. I have tried to download Number#2 for ZVD but for some reason it doesn't download as a zip file. I have downloaded rom manager but I have not even used it to root my phone yet. I am just trying to wrap my head around all of this stuff before I pull the trigger. I have been doing a lot of reading trying not to ask stupid questions but I didn't want to risk screwing up..... @switch no such thing as stupid question that's why this forum is here for too answer all questions....
Have you rooted your phone if you haven't do so then install room manager and create a back up of your stock ROM before you flash any new ROM and since your on ZVD only roms for that version should be flashed.


Wellll there is one question every one shouldn't ask and that's too a Dev never ask for an ETA on when the project there working on is going to be finished lol
 
I guess I may be more confused that I thought... I was thinking when I click "flash Clockworkmod Recovery" from Rom manager that was actually the root.

yea 2 diff things. Although there is a package with a AIO script that will root n install cwm for you. Thru RM tho it just flashes CWM & requires root to do so. ;)

Thanks for the clarification PG... After some more research I have found a root that says it will work for ZVD. The name is (LG_Esteem_Root_v2_Windows.zip) and it appears that I can install it either through my computer or directly from the phone. I have not manned up and rooted anything yet. I have been reading a lot about some of the custom roms and Gingersteem Extreme ii had me on the verge of taking the plunge but that seems to be out of the question since I updated.
Since DONLATINOHEAT replied I have been looking at and reading about Black Plague (downloaded the zip) for ZVD. But for some strange reason after reading the thread I don't feel as confident in the Black Plague rom as I did the Gingersteem. (Sorry PG :o) I have also attempted to download #2 Rom but the file doesn't look like a zip at all. Maybe you guys can give me a opinion about the different ZVD custom roms or a estimate for GSE iii. :D Thanks again....
 
Nahh it was like that in the past with z4 root but i don't think it will work on this puppy .i BROKE MY SLUG HAMMER WHEN I HIT MY ESTEEM . yes i broke the hammer not the phone :eek::banghead::D
 
just wanted to give you mad props for this rom again... i am finally ready to retire it and move onto another rom... i think i am going to #2... been anxiously waiting for your cm :)
 
Hoping someone can help me here. First time rooting my phone and everything seems fine installed gingersteem had that small issue of rebootign when i went to install any apps but fixed that. But now not evertime but a lot of time when playing any game it will boot me out of it and pop up plz insert a metro pcs sim card emergency calls only. Then it will disappear and phone will be back to normal. Any ideas how to stop this or should i jsut give up on gingersteem and try another. Seems like not much talk abotu gingersteem for the last few months

Just make sure you have done a full wipe of data/cache/dalvik cache or use one of the ones here: http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=5012458
^^^^Makes it effortless;)
Every device is different as well-some like overclocking/or certain kernels/ROMs ...just have to find a good combo through trial and error.
What version is your phone:confused:
 
Ya the missed the dalvik cache the first time thats y i had the installing bug. But fixed that. Like i said everything is good on that now. Just that plz insert a metro pcs sim card emergency calls only popping up a decent amount. Phone is updated to the latest drivers. Haven't messed with any settings since i installed gingersteem 2. Really don't want to rewipe lost a lot of game saved data last time. Don't want to have to replay that many hours again. Been looking all over the net if anyone else was having this issue. But haven't seen anything on it.

All i did was use LG_Esttem_Root_v2_windows to root and then loaded GSE-C-v.02_signed zip to put ginger on it. And now that app closing is actually getting worse now 2-3 of my games are pretty much unplayable they boot up and kick me out almost instantly. Though the Insert Sim card hasn't come up as much. Though after re/downloading android assistant i'm thinking they are crashing due to much going on. For some reason assistant says usage of up to 75%+ going on a lot which is a heck of a lot more processor usage then before i ever rooted.

Been loving the speed of the phone now but all rdy sucks i had to wipe to root lost months of game files and started to play to get them back and now wondering if i'm going to have to rewipe everything again here soon.

I'm good at comps so usually good at figuring stuff like this out myself from just reading sites but this has got me stumped.
 
As far as your zvd/b/c question goes its essentially the frame for your phone, the blank canvas for you to paint on so to speak. Your operating system. LG releases updates to this ever so often though I believe zvd will be the last for this phone.

You may know this already but just in case...
Click on the menu button on your phone, which is on the left side of the home button.
Then click on settings and scroll down to about phone and click on that.
Scroll down to SW version, and it should say MS910ZVD or ZVB or ZVC.

Once you know this than you'll know what roms and mods work for your phone. ;)

I read the OP for this rom and the developer says that it's based on ZVC.
That may be the problem your having because your phone has zvd.
You will need to install a rom for zvd like the one found here:

I was wondering if anybody knows if I'll be able to sync my ps3 controller with this ROM... or if someone would be kind enough to download the compability app and see if its compatible lol thanks in advance..... (sixaxis controller)


Or if playfulgod would make it possible to sync wiimote or ps3 through sixaxis would be kind :)
