Root [ROM][ICS] MIUI V4-2.9.14 alpha 4 (9/16/12)

When I try to update phone status settings then about phone. Update I get MIUI has stopped

what? are you talking about Settings > About phone > SYSTEM UPDATES?

if so thats a feature to check for new versions of MIUI, but since this isn't official I removed the updater.

When you say you loose 3g i does it revert to 1x or complete loss of data. Never noticed a problem with data. But i do notice if i have poor signal will rever to wat is 1x rtt. Bt still seem to have 3g speeds. Not a big issue for me.

How is signal quality. Would go to cwm wipe cache and dalvik reboot. Sometimes that works for a number of things.

Yes switches to 1x so I disable data connection that works after a few times. I know that it's not wifi that is causing my issue because I haven't been using it

Signal is low and phone calls break up. So boot into recovery and wipe dalvik, and cache then reboot?

Probably shoulda mentioned prl update first. But wasnt thinking. Haha

I noticed that works for me. Even jus doing a factory rest then reflashing works as well. Sometime things get a lil whoppy when u flash a new rom. I have a tower less than 2 miles from me. And still signal isnt the greatest because of all the trees. I do a prl update and if that still dont work i do the mentioned.

I preform this reqularly just to refresh the phone ( wipe dalvic/ cache). So.e times when flashing a new rom i will also completly loose data and have to flash 2 or more times before things start to work properly. Wish i had more marquees there are so many great roms for this phone. Warp and prevail as well... thanks to all the great developers.

I've noticed also that if you let your phone completely die (without shutting it down gracefully) there's a possiblility that the phone may be in a boot loop. I tried Clearing the caches (dalvik and regular) but nothing else. I haven't tried the factory reset yet.

Also as far as the settings, I get the same thing. It immediately force closes. And I'm sure you already know this but, there's an excessive amount of memory that's being taken up. I don't know a way around that at all. I'm pretty sure there isn't either

I tried to see how long the battery would last with 3G in the background and me not messing with it. It lasted about 4-5 hours but it gracefully shut down. Wifi Lasted a little longer but the same for what I had installed.

My CPU was set at 300-1300 with interactive as the governor.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST I noticed that as soon as you plug your phone in, it turns on. are you gonna add the original charge screen when the phone is off?

Just my two cents to help

EDIT: also some things in the MIUI.us Toolbox doesn't work. Just the options under the launcher settings.

GREAT WORK BLOOD!

Just my opinion but I think this ROM is kicking ass to only be in the alpha stage. I've seen some ROMs in beta that don't work as well as this one does. lol:p

This happened to me too, I was lucky that I had an extra battery that was charged. This occurred because I used that battery feature where it asks you to fully charge the battery and hit some calibrate option and then it states to allow the battery to fully drain and the phone shut off by itself. Then, plug the phone back in and allow it to fully charge before turning back on. Well, I plugged it back in and it started to boot loop and continued to do so without the battery ever charging. I assume it was due to the screen draining the very little charge the battery was receiving when it was caught in the loop. Anyways, I put the other battery in and reverted back to CT Mod for now.

As far as the memory use being too high, there are a lot of programs running in the background and I don't care how many Android engineers say task killing apps do nothing good for an Android,,,they do! How someone can justify saying well, it runs in the background and the OS will shut it down if it needs to have more resources is an idiot in my opinion. If the task is not running its better than low memory running until its needs to get bumped off for another program. I purchased Rom Toolbox and used the Freeze feature on a bunch of programs I felt were unnecessarily running in the background that didn't remain off when I used end task. The system ran very smooth after that. I also uninstalled some extras. Oh, I had this rom on my phone running for about a week before I tried that battery program that's part of MIUI =D

From what I got to use, it's going to be a great rom once it's in a release stage. Thank you Blood for offering us so many options for this phone!!

There's also an option with ROM Toolbox to pick and choose which applications start up when you're phone starts up. That way there's less programs running in the background using RAM. Freezing them does the job as well, but you have to unfreeze the app to use it again. Also you should check out the Auto Memory Manager in ROM Toolbox as well. It does wonders keeping programs running in the background in check. I have about 200 apps installed. Most of them are optional keyboard for Go Launcher and perfect keyboard. And I use ROM Toolbox to make sure they don't start up in the background if i'm not using them. Spotify, Facebook, Skype and other apps will run in the background unless I use the start up manager in ROM Toolbox. I personally believe if you're using an Android Device, then a task manager is a must have app. Especially if your Android has 512MB of RAM or lower. I use Go Launcher, and the built in task manager works great for me most of the time. My phone runs great on this ROM or CTmod. I usually have about 250mb of free RAM. My phone is pretty snappy. I'm happy with pre-paid. Just not so happy with the slow 3G rev. A but that's another discussion for another time. This will be my daily use ROM as soon as the cameras are fixed which I know they will be. I love how much development attention this phone has picked up. I love checking these forums and seeing new things. My girlfriend's Pantech Crossover and my friend's LG Viper have gotten little to no dev work aside from rooting. But every Android phone I've had including my tablet have a pretty good community :)

hello everyone! ! can anyone tell me if there will be any new development soon? id like to flash this but would like the camera to work properly ..
any help is greatly appreciated
thanks

ALPHA 3
Patched MIUI to build 2.9.7. You can view the changes Here
New kernel build
New wallpaper and boot animation
Removed Maps, Gmail and Youtube since you can download them from the market
Added GooManager support
Fixed LBE Guard FC when installing root apps

First boot can take a while.

It actually booted fast no problem with that, my speaker starts working and after 10sec it stops the call still there but the spkeakr goes off I just wanted to know if anybody else having the same problem....

This is a known problem with the CM-9 based ROM's for the Marquee and the devs are aware of it. In time, I'm sure they will try to eradicate this bug along with the others.

ditto on that problem, you have to switch off speaker then you're right back on the call, also had the phone ring while the phone was charging and the screen wouldn't come up.
