Root Rom/kernel

ok so i rooted today. now wanting a new ROM or KERNEL...not sure yet. Im wanting to run the Tiamat_Evo-v4.0.6
can i run that kernel with the rom i have now... guessing its the stock rom i have.i havent flashed a new rom. everyone is saying the MikG 2.45 is awesome ROM. can i run that rom with the tiamat kernel? or should i just go with the mikg 2.45 rom?

If you want to run that you can't Use a gingerbread rom it doesn't support it u can use cm7 and Tiamat kernel if u want good battery but if your usually near a charger mikG 2.45 is the way to go it's my fav rom

the tiamat kernel is for aosp roms. if you are on the stock rom then you need a kernel for sense. also with sense kernels you need the one fro gingerbread roms if that is what you want to flash. and as of right now there are only two kernels that run on gingerbread sense at the moment. they are golden monkey 1.1 on freedom kernels .85 you can get them on the rom/kernel sticky at the top of this forum. also please read the kernel guide that is stickied as well.

so to answer your question on tiamat and mikg2.45 the answer is no as mikg2.45 is a gingerbread sense rom.

Would it be worth flashing one of the kernels with the mikg 2.45 I have flashed. Or should I just stick with whatevers on it? Looking for speed is what I'm after. Granted this ROM is faster than stock. It's awesome

there are two types of kernels that you nees to be concerned with aosp and sense kernels. mikg2.45 is sense rom so you need a sense kernel.

there are currently only two kernels out right now. golden monkey and freedom .85 kernels. with kernels it will always be YRMV. so make a nandroid backup and try one. i would start with golden monkey 1.1. try it and give it a few days to settle in to get a final read on how the phone reacts to it.
