I am currently traveling and am not in an area with data coverage. Has anyone flashed a new ROM with only wireless access?
Sure, you can DL from your Droid's browser. However, you may want to keep an eye on what the file size is before you DL and afterwards to make sure it DLed right. These browsers can be funky at times. However, a while back someone pointed out that Dolphin Browser is very reliable when it comes to DLing files, and I've never had a prob since.
Thanks for the input. I've already downloaded using the stock browser and it appears to have been done successfully. (side note...keep meaning to try firefox)
I guess I am worried that there would be a problem with reestablishing contact with the network right after starting up with a new ROM. Though, I guess I have bypassed this in the past by doing the four-corners thing and restoring everything else with TiBU
I don't know. I suppose I am most worried about unforeseen problems, though, I'll have a good nandroid so I guess if something goes wrong it won't be that big an issue.
Thanks again...
After a second install, I got 1.8 and all my apps working. In order to get past the 800 Mhz clock, I installed Chevy1 1200Mhz MedV kernel. All seems fine except the known issue with Chevy1 where the usb connection to the desktop is a nogo.I finally got 1.8 loaded on my phone.
I still think the 800 MHz processor kernel is a limiting factor...
Anyone else having problems with not getting notifications for texts? About 60% of the time, I get normal notifications, along with a little red "1" blip from LauncherPro on the bottom, in my dock. Sometimes though, my phone won't vibrate, make noise, or blink the LED. I have to unlock it and look at the screen, and even then, there's nothing in the notification bar, just the indicator in the LauncherPro dock.
I've tried fiddling with all the Go SMS settings regarding the stock app being uninstalled, and keeping it in memory, but I still lose messages. It happened less frequently with Handcent, but I don't remember it happening at all with Froyo roms.
Has anyone experienced similar frustrations or know if there's something I can do to help? I've had it with this LGB ROM, 1.7, CM7, UD3, etc.

I uninstalled 1.8 and went back to 1.7 for the 1.1 GHz clock.
In reading the posts over on DF, many are doing that but the downside is USB not working. On the stock kernel USB apparently works but until older kernels are updated USB is a no go. That has kept me from trying 1.8. I use USB all the time so that's a deal breaker for me.You do realize you can flash a new kernel at anytime, right? It may take trying a couple diff ones, but eventually you will nail an even better combination for your Droid.
Me too, would love to have them again.Slayher kernels used to run real well with Liquid's ROMs, at least for me.

Wasn't aware of that issue. Yeah, that would be a deal breaker for me, too. Gotta have USB, I transfer files back and forth all the time (more often than not, ROM files, still prefer the old method).
I haven't flashed a new kernel in months. I've been using whatever stock kernel comes with the ROM, and just been too lazy to flash anything new. I have no idea what new kernels are available.
