Root [ROM]Liquid Gingerbread v2.6 Release

I was having issues with the notification sound sticking too. What I did was modify the build.prop to change the default notification and ringtone to the ones that I like, after that it worked like I wanted it to :D

Thanks for the experienced reply...now I'm off to research "how" to modify build.prop since I'm unfamiliar unless, of course, it's straight-forward and I could get steps from you if that's not to much to ask...seriously though..if it's easy to do please reply, if not I understand and will learn how to do this with guidance about where I can learn the process.

Back in GB ROM days, I used to use the Speech to text feature to compose replies in Texting or e-mails and I need to know how to get this working with LGB 2.6.

Do I flash some files that were omitted from the LGB 2.6 ROM or what?

Thanks

I use google voice search. Ill activate the app, tell it "email" then to who. Tell it a subject and then tell it the message. About all you have to do is press send if you speak clearly.

I just installed and tried this methods and it worked as you discribed and corrected by classic use as shown below.

The way I used the voice text input was in reply to texts, e-mails by Reply and tapping the Microphone to Dictate the text and that seemed good in the orig GB ROM and I wanted to get that feature.

Thanks again...:D

I am getting horrible battery life on this ROM. I lose about 10% per hour with the screen off and coming from a fresh reboot. Are there any know tweaks to help with the battery?

I was on OMFGB and would only use about 4-5% per hour when the screen was off.

Try charging fully, reset battery stats, depleting the battery, then doing a full charge. A lot of times ROMs seem to have terrible battery life when first used and the battery isn't calibrated.

After fully calibrating the battery and letting the ROM settle in..

The blue 50 is the battery level.

I'm not getting anywhere near this. If I'm lucky I get 12 hours full use. Sitting there doing nothing it loses very little charge but as soon as I turn the screen on I can literally see the battery draining

I'm in the same boat.

rehpyc what's your secret?

Has anyone done an advanced Restore of data only from CM7 to this rom? Just curious as I'm giving it a shot now and what to expect.

Edit: Oops. Big mistake. Don't do it. hehe, Status bar missing amongst other bugs after trying the above.

Why is it the battery drain problems aren't being addressed by the devs? I am by far complaining about their work. These 2nd init Roms are very sweet indeed. I love what they bring to my droid but this piss poor battery life is killing the Roms. I meen, if your battery is draining away within 5/6 hours then that alone makes these Roms not worth it.

I would imagine our devs would be working franticly to sort this out so people will stay using their Roms no? My two favorites right now are SSX and Liquid. I would so love to keep running one of them but the battery life is making me want to go back to GB.

i tried to put liquid 2.6 on my droid x through rom manger and now my phone is stuck on the red motorola sign i was running rooted gingerbread .602 can anyone tell how to fix this

You will have to SBF to .340 Froyo as Liquid 2.6 is made to flash from that kernel.

Hello! I posted earlier in this thread a couple weeks ago asking how to go from Apex RC2.0 to Liquid 2.6. Here's what I was told, and what I was planning to do:
Sbf to 340
Root with z4 root
Download rom manager
install 2nd init clockwork recovery
Reboot into recovery with Droid 2 bs
Clear data cache dalvik cache
Flash liquid
Reboot and you should be running liquid
I'm all backed up now, I have my SBF ready to go, etc., and I just had one question...I see that Liquid 2.6 is one of the ROMs that can be downloaded through ROM Manager. Rather than go through the whole SBF/re-root/flash process above, is it possible to just download and install L2.6 through ROM Manager? Could it be that simple, or is there a reason that shortcut isn't going to work?

I'm downloading L2.6 through ROM Manager now, just in case, but I'd like to find out from someone who knows if this shorter method is too good to be true. I guess I figure that if I jack this up I'm going to have to SBF it back to 340 anyway, so it might be a chance worth taking. I'd appreciate any guidance anyone could give me on this. Thanks!

PS - I noticed that the advice above said to install the 2nd init Clockworkmod Recovery...if I recall correctly, when ROM Manager updated last, I chose the Droid X (which is what I have) rather than the Droid X2 (which was the 2nd init). Is it critical to get that 2nd init CWM instead?

SBF...done
z4 root...done
ROM Manager...done
2nd init CWM...done
D2 bs...done
clear caches...done
install L2.6 from zip...done

Here goes the reboot...(drum roll please)...

Hm...Liquid is clearly installed (I'm watching its boot animation over and over and over and over...), but it's still trying to boot for the first time. How long should the first boot take??

Hm. I would think half an hour should be plenty of time for the first boot, but it's still looping. Anyone have any ideas? I think I'll leave it overnight and hope for the best in the morning.

If it's still looping pull the battery and do a factory reset in stock recovery.

Yep, that's what I did - battery pull, wipe cache and data again, and reboot. Bingo! There's Liquid, all nice and shiny! Of course, now I have to slog through the laborious process of reloading everything and putting settings back in place, but oh well. :)

Hopefully there won't be any problems from this point on.

I'm seeing people getting great results from cm7 on the gb kernel. I just love this rom too much to try it. Just waiting for it to get updated.

Just one noticeable problem so far - I keep getting this error:

"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

And it doesn't appear to find any ringtones or notification tones.

Any ideas?
