Root ROM loads + Themes post ROOT

First off I want to apologize for this thread because I know it may be repetitive, I run a few sports sites so for the regulars, please be easy on me, just point me in the right direction :D

So, I have had a few droids now... all rooted no prob but ive basically just been using the root to remove the bloatware, wifi, auto kill, and drocap...

Ive been too intimidated to get into the ROMs/Themes because it seems like different forums have different explinations... plus the instructions are always for WINDOWS users... I have a MAC...

I really want to customize this phone a lot more... however, I am so overwhelmed... I see the themes are .zip files (assumed they should be .apk) I see different things you have to install first, but they'll all windows apps... I've got the root done on my X so I am halfway there I think...

...again, sorry for the noob question... Happy Holidays!!

happy holidays to you as well ,first off you will be fine using a mac you just have to find the ins and outs of some stuff,i am a linux user and have the same issue but there is always a way,now my suggestion for you would be to read these links im posting they have a lot of helpful info,
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...ing-custom-rom-theme-how-unbrick-droid-x.html
http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...ide-root-unroot-backup-rom-sbf-overclock.html
also DONT use 928 black glass for anything it is not compatible with the new updates and will brick your x...you will either have to deodex through a rom which most will do so and if you dont want to use a rom but just a mod or theme then you will have to manually deodex first here is a thread

Most themes and ROMs can be installed straight from your phone, but you might want to read up on flashing an SBF on a mac (from the 5 min I spent on google it looks like you'll need to do it through windows with bootcamp or a VM). Also, as soon as you root, make a backup before you change anything, so it'll be easy to get OTAs in the future.
