Root ROM Manager contents explanations

I've read the good and bad of ROM manager, but still think it's a good idea. Only problem is, what's in it?

Some is obvious, but not all of it ... For instance, what is "superuser 2.3.1 ef" ? Why would you need it, if you need root anyway to use RM?

There are alot of kernels in there, but what do they do?

I ask cause not everything is findable. I did a half hour search for the SU 2.3.1 ef and nothing comes up. And there's not much on the website ... Soo ... any help?

Superuser gives access to use the root privileges. Think of your phone as a car. The rom if the body, the kernel is the engine, and the theme is the paint job ( I stole this from nitsuj17)

That I get, but are the ones in RM special? What about all the kernals? I only see info on the stupidfast ones ...

On some phones with a much bigger community rom manager is a major source of roms/kernels/mods as there are so many devs working on things that its easier to kinda make a rm manifest and upload there

Our community isn't like that however...,saps maintains a kernel page here though and i maintain a rom/theme thread (which i have to update)....so those are your best bets. :)

OK ... that makes sense.

Last question ... no promises though :)

Most of the kernals I've seen have an ending with something like ##/## , where the # is a number .. ie: Voodoo5 12/03 (stable).

Voodoo5 is the name and (stable) is a no brainer, but '12/03' ... what does that mean?

You guys are a great help, and I'm just amazed at the way people act. I like to put turbos on cars that don't have them, and some of the people on the forums I go to are true but heads. Here though ... nice, very impressed.

yeah its kinda nice how almost everyone is using dates for their kernels; K.I.S.S.
