Root ROM Manager no option to flash CWM

Thin_Client

Newbie
I just downloaded ROM Manager (v5.5.2.3) and when I opened it for the first time in an attempt to flash CWM (ClockWorkMod), it is not listed as an option under Recovery. The only thing listed under recovery is Recovery Setup and Reboot into Recovery. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling ROM Manager but I still do not see the option to flash CWM. Any suggestions on how to get CMW on ROM Manager? All instructions I read on it indicated that it would be the first option. One thing that did happen was that when I first opened ROM Manager, it presented a disclaimer box and I tapped the OK button. It did not respond so I tried tapping again eventually it brought me to the main menu, but now CWM option.

I'm going to the link now. In the mean time, as I was poking around in ROM Manager, I looked in the Recovery Setup and see the option to "Install or Update Recovery" and CWM is listed as an option in there. Also, in the same area it shows "Recoveries already installed" and CWM is listed along with Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP). Any thoughts about that? Do you think I'm safe to tap CWM under the "Install or Update Recovery"?

As of right now, id leave Rom manager alone and uninstall it.

According to the guide linked above, only the modded cwm in the guide can be used in the triumph.

It would be running a big risk trying to load on cwm via rom.manager

Well then, I guess the question I have to ask my self is this... Do I feel lucky? Well, do I?
I'll read into that link and see what it says. Thank you for your help. I guess it is not a good question to ask of someone about if I should go ahead and choose to flash from ROM Manager. I apologize for putting you in that position.

If you was to ask me id say no quickly lol, but just follow steps 1-13 in that guide.

I read through then and it seems very easy, easier than most other devices.

I've never used ROM Manager myself but I've not heard many good things about it (i.e. bad flashes, for one). Installing a different recovery on the MT using Download Mode is incredibly easy and straight-forward, probably easier than trying to do it with ROM Manager.

True story: I bought my MT at Best Buy in October. I programmed/activated it (you have to use stock ROM to activate), installed CWM, and installed CM7, all within 20 minutes of getting it home. It's that easy. If a knucklehead like me can do it, I'm pretty sure anyone can.

I don't know about the MT, but when I had my Optimus V the general consensus was to not even use ROM Manager to load CWM & that ROM Manager should be avoided at all costs LOL

What you all have to say is very interesting, especially in light of all that I've read about how so simple it is to use RM and that it is the lauded, main-stream way of getting CWM on a phone, even within this forum (or maybe it is just links from this form). But, yeah. I did discover last night that the MT is not on the DCL for RM (as reflected on their site). I did follow follow DragonSlayer95's advice and followed the link that was recommended. I wound up just using one of the compatible versions of CWM from this form ( version from Isaac (5.0.2.6) and flashed it. Then, after creating a Nandroid backup, I flashed bROM by b-randon14 onto the phone. It is now up an running with B-random14's ROM to beta test it. I'm also going to try out Froyocream Sandwich by Mobstergunz and ziggy46 as soon as I get my next chance. I did tweak the CPU a little so I don't know if that will affect battery drain along with the animated wallpapter. The phone belongs to my wife so Froyocream or other may be better for her usage. Then maybe I can install a tether later. Thanks for all of your responces and interest in my situation. BTW... I'm a newbie with all of this so I hope you will forgive my clumbsiness on this forum. Also my first forum.

No need for forgiveness, bud. We were all newbies at some point. And we're all here to help each other. Well, at least, we SHOULD be ;) That's why these forums are here. If you are uncertain about something or need some advice then, by all means, ask questions before doing something that might potentially brick your phone.

That being said, the MT is virtually "un-brickable" but that's not to say it's never happened.

Just like the above said, we were all new at one point and can't gain knowledge without asking questions :)

Glad it worked out for you, need anymore help, just ask away

Thankyou for pointing me in the right direction and for the encouragement you all gave.

Maybe someday I will be able to break the newbie boundaries and soure to new heights.

:?)

This is good to know about the MT. I won't have to be to shy with it.

(Not exactly sure how to include a quote in a reply and stay in order of the thread.)

Thanks!! :?)

If your using the browser, there should a "quote" tab to insert quote tags

Otherwise type at the beginning of the quote [ QUOTE ] and [ / QUOTE ] at the end without the spaces.
