Root Rom Manager not making backup

I used z4root to root my Droid X wanted to make a back up with Rom Manager before trying apex. Rom Manager ran but I can not find the backup file with Linda Manager or with Astro File Manager. I just tried to back up with Rom Manager, but when the phone booted it did not go into terminal mode and did not back up? Did I do something wrong? Do I not have root?

You need to open bootstrap and tap the top button... it should say success. Then you should be able to use RM.

are you using bootstrapper first? you can also just boot into recovery and backup that way. i prefer it. i dont even use rom manager anymore.

+1

I'm actually sorry that I bought the paid version of it. I never use it or install it. Have not in months actually.

I would suggest doing what Tom is referring to.

Yeah i still have it registered from the D1 days. back then it was very useful since there were like 3 million roms for the D1. :)

Now days i just use CW recovery to do everything. I feel more in control that way as well.

Sorry guys, I have to disagree. It may not be anything special for managing roms, but IMO it's great for managing (create, list, rename, delete) backups, especially for those who prefer an nice interface for their apps (like me). :D

+1 I am the typical visually oriented male I guess. :)

I still open bootstrapper, select the top option, then open rom manager and do my business for naming and creating backups. If it's just flashing roms or zip files though, I'll just use bootstrapper to boot into Recovery.

I use Root Explorer or ASTRO File Manager to rename backups....I never use ROM Manager, I don't even install it anymore.

But everyone has their own way of doing things, and guess what, there is nothing wrong with that ;):D
