Root Rom Manager recovery not working.

I installed the clockwork mod recovery, rooted the phone and installed busybox. I attempt to Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery (for LGE optimus v). It seems to be working, and even tells me it succesfully flashed the recovery. But when I reboot into recovery, it just boots to the Android System recovery <3e>. How do i correct this?
 
My android version is 2.2.1 I bought this phone like the day before it was official for virgin mobile, it is for sure one of the older phones.
 
I think so, since I was able to install busy box, and i get a message that says the rom manager was granted SU access.
 
Open terminal emulator and type su it should change your prompt from $ to # if it does you have SU if not you don't.

If you don't have SU you need to reroot. If you do have SU, I don't know where to go from here. I would guess reinstall the recovery but let me point AndyOpie to this thread, he'll know for sure.
 
OK I ran gingerbreak again, Superuser then updated the the binary. I'm not sure how else to confirm the phone is rooted. How do I open a terminal? Do I do that from the phone or do I do that from my PC with the phone connected and in debugging mode? I'm afraid that is not something I know how to do off the top of my head.

I should point out the when superuser updates it opens a window, and runs several terminal commands on the phone. After every command it does say "okay!" in green
 
When your done checking root. Download a good root file explorer like ES file explorer. Then set it up in the menu to enable root and mount the system to r/w. Then go to /system/bin and tell us what the install date of the flash_image is.
 
You might have to change the home page in ES from /sdcard/ to /
You can do this in the settings.
 
Or, from the main ES File Explorer screen, tap on the star icon, then tap on the phone icon. You are now in the root of the device. It's the fastest way there.
 
I dont know if astro has a root option in the menu. If it does enable it.
If not download ES.
 
Check ES settings and make sure that if it has an option to show hidden files, that it's enabled.
 
It is set to show hidden files, root explorer is checked and mount file system as writable is checked

I refreshed, and listed alphabetically it goes from eta, then getevent, getprop, gzip etc.

At the top in the path window it has a phone icon then /system/bin. to the left of that is says local.
 
Ok. Somehow you have lost your flash_image which is vital to flashing recovery's and ROM's.
Check in /system/xbin.
 
This is why you couldn't flash the recovery. Somehow ROM Manager borked it's flash_image install which also deleted the stock flash_image even though it didn't install it's in place of it.

Don't worry about the title. The info you need to install the flash_image is there.
I'm going to install a fresh version of ROM Manager and see what's going on. If you don't hear from me for a while it's because I'm dealing with it and some personal business.
 
Ok , just trying to be thorough, and I really appreciate the help!

I downloaded and unzipped the flash_image file from the link you sent. I will then copy that unzipped file to the /system/bin location on my phone...

Then I will reboot into the correct recovery mode that will allow me to back my existing image, then flash a new image right?

You need to install a recovery as well. All you have is the stock recovery which won't let you flash anything.
 
Ok to install a new recovery I can just copy the file VM670NH_recovery.img to the /sytem/bin folder on my phone?
