Root Rom manager

Started this thread just so people didn't have to read through threads to find out that rom manager should not be used on a Prevail. Several people have permanently bricked their phones (me included) by using some of its functions. So, if you want rom manager functions without a dead phone, download Hroarks CWM (clockworkmod). He has saved all of our phones on different occasions, and for that we are very greatful.

lol Man I seem to bee finding these threads all over the place. First its not RM thats bricking anything but rather user error for installing a recovery not intended for their phone. 2nd) CWM has to be built and submited to koush for official build n merged into RM b4 it will be available in RM for ppl to install. RM need CWM to work fully and is almost useless w/o it. So once hroark gets his CWM port submitted to koush and koush gets it officially built n merged, ppl need to watch what they are doing nread what they are installing. I'm pretty sure the prevail isnt a listed phone in RM ;)

Not a bad thread to warn ppl, but most, if not all threads like this I have seen are chalked full of misinformation. ;)
 
I've almost been screaming it from the rooftop about ROM Manager not being good for the Prevail due to the phone not being supported yet.... It should be obvious that it's not supported when the Prevail isn't in the phone list, but people for some reason or the other decide to play Russian Roulette anyway. As far as booting into recovery ONLY, ROM MANAGER is all good, but for anything else DO NOT USE until the Prevail is finally supported. There is a better alternative (until the Prevail is supported by R.M.). THE A.C.S. Updater.... It only lists the things that we can use for our phones.

AT this point in time you are completely correct. ;)
 
more so, even once rm support happens (which is unlikely due to hroark having to modify files outside of the device tree) themes arent supported on rom manager, only roms.. and those have to be submitted as well. doing it manually sucks, trust me ive been there. doing it thru koush's gui makes it easy but then your stuff is for premium users only on teh weekends

As we say down South: "I Heard That!!!" It is easy to take it for granted after a while, until you see somebody with an unmolested one from Boost and compare. Whoa! Night and Day. Optimus named the usual suspects as well as the Godfather of Root. Mr. Interdph who made all this possible. Probably some other folks too. Thanks EVERYBODY! I have been pretty busy with work and have not spent much time on the boards lately, But, I use my phone for data entry at work every day all over South Georgia and every day I silently thank these damn geniuses for what they have done and continue to do.

I got on last night and was surprised to see some squabbling had been going on, not really sure what about, but it does not matter. That crap gets in the way of the good shit that we are all used to getting. I hope that no one has been turned off enough to abandon us. We still need the help.
 
can't forget Bloodawn either with out him there would be no Chicken Tits or CIQ remover or kick ass themes.

I didnt mention the themes guys, and your correct I should in my original post I was thinking more the function not the looks.

But everyone from the testers to the people that put in so much time and effort deserve recognition.:D
