Root [ROM](MI-CHEE BETA 2 PUBLIC TEST RELEASE) Full Miui GB rom CM7 based

I flash amd let the cell still for the hole night and still error 492 when try to download anything from the google play market.
Any help?
try going to setting/manage applications and from ALL tab find google play store, and force stop and clear data. do the same for google services framework, then try.

i read that it doesnt require much so thats why eventually id like to dedicate the laptop to ubuntu only. i really like it so far tho. do you use virtualbox at all?

I do use vbox. Only for build source tho. My tower pc is 32bit and you need 64 to build rom source and vbox can run 64 bit on a 32 bit host. I still use ubuntu as the host os without any windows. My macbook pro was all i had for awhile . Just fixed the tower :)

ya i noticed that last last night, so i went with the lubuntu environment, much faster. we'll see how this works, looking thru it now

Its in the works.

Give me a week or 2.

Could you indicate whether or not standalone gps will be functional in beta 2. If this is in the works are you going to port the gingerbread system or a froyo solution. I mention this as theres are bugs with gingerbread.
I also had problems with the menus on all the apps that I installed, in that they are not rendered or visible. If this fixed with the theme fix or an unrelated problem?

Great. As I have so many problems with the Standalone GPS in stock, ill certainly be giving that build a new try. If i could get at the source code, I would have a look over the GPS code myself.

there should be nothing wrong with gps in stock..
you could get reqs cm7 build off his git hub..since the problems with gps from miui are from cm7

I have posted this in the cm7 post too.

I dont have any problem running Standalone GPS in stock the first time round. The problem occurs when GPS is turned off for more than a minute after obtaining a fix. If I turn it back on within a 40-50 minute time frame it will not discover sats until this period has expired irrespective of rebooting etc. I have noted through other searches that there are others having gingerbread gps works once errors and others mentioning froyo is better all round. Fixes are also circulating but not for this model. From analysing logs on stock I have noted status 9 and the occasional wrong prn errors. I thought it was a cache cleanup error but have been unable to find the source code for stock gps to edit the code or find out how to disable cache cleanup in the gps.conf file.

I have looked in his source code and couldnt locate anything gps related. It appears samsung have omitted it from their source code too. There is no GPSD equivalent service on cm7 at this time so the gps server/daemon will not start at all. I hope that whatever service they use they revise the gpslocationprovider/cleanup code before putting it out. I doubt my chip is faulty because it wouldnt work flawlessly first time round. Unfortunately I dont have other devices to test against and most users in these forums dont appear to know what standalone gps is let alone test it under set conditions to rule out a firmware issue.

umm ok

Has anyone gotten their nTelos carrier Admire to work properly with MMS yet on this ROM? I have tried patching Req0's nTelos apn.zip from his cm7 thread (it worked for that) but I am not getting it to work properly for this ROM... I have also tried wiping cache and trying the other fixes and mixing it up a little... I haven't quite given up... but it would be nice to hear someone was successful... Other than that the ROM is really nice...

Now I just need to figure out how to work the themes you guys are talking about... I am just using the default because of I have been concentrating all my energy into getting the MMS to work... anyways! grreat work Bo! (and team)

:D Woot!

Does anyone know how to install themes? I have changed the properties as indicated in the original post. I cannot find any import theme option in the themes app like other miui roms.

put the theme on your sd card in miui/theme. it will come up on theme chooser.

I had tried that but it didnt work. Maybe I should rephrase it, I meant lock screen. In the end i just ran the file and selected the theme app and made it default. I see there are 3 resolutions for these devices, complicating maters further. Are there any themese (not just lockscreen) for this screen resoultion. I presume also this is why the icons are out of size when new aps are installed.

Im guessing all of the themes appearing online in the themes app are not mdpi, I guess there is a default setting within the app code that needs changing.

I see the weather on maps live wallpaper alos does not appear to work even though its enabled. Says a widget is required.

Update coming soon? Home button problems and power button problems... Not to mention a few bootloops before I reflashed. But besides these ALMOST stable.

hey bo, was just curious how you ended up getting camera to work on here? im still pounding my head on the cm7 camera

If your referring to miui and not just cm7 my camera works fine along with camera ics both for video and photos. I also spoke to the developer and they also claimed it would work on this OS.

Update: I just flashe dCM7.2 on its own and it doesnt work as indicated, looks like a core level coding issue. Im sure they will fix this bug in the longer term. Interesting how it works in miui.

I have had a bit of spare time over the past few days so I thought I would put Miui back on and give it a bit more of a test. I have noticed a range of issues that I hadnt last time round so thought I would list them even if they seem trivial. Im sure some of these have been raised but ill add them anyway.

- This is not a problem but I would first like to point out that this platform supports ping, traceroute and I believe hidden SSID which 2.3.4 didnt - a big bonus.
- Many lock screen options dont seem to work even after a reboot i.e. music player always on, lock screen buttons/ toggles. Sometimes when figeting with these settings the phone would reboot.
- I dont recall seeing the swype keyboard installed, i like that its kinda beefy.
- Sound recorder saves to top directory, maybe it should be in a directory, if every app did this it would be a nightmare. On playback the player doesnt appear unless you touch the screen which is a little odd. Maybe it would be better to pull this out (as they did with stock) and put something better in instead of tweaking it like easy voice recorder (free) which also has a good widget.
- The screen torch on power widget actually dims, maybe this is a setting that is overlooked but you would think with this app it would always remain at full power irrespective of global settings. I also felt it wasnt as bright as other apps.
- The speaker sound sounds much louder/better on this rom, but in my opinion the headset doesnt, ive tried twiddling with the dsp settings. Im not sure why but stock sounds crisper, maybe its a personal choice or a headset issue etc.
- Map cache is not retained in live wallpaper, im guessing this is a google not a rom issue. May be they have pulled the plug on this project anyhow.
- Would have preferred date in status bar instead of no service (you can see this/ airplane mode in signal bar icons) etc as with stock, at least they took no service/ searching for service out of the lock screen o) Actually if you change date format in settings this doesnt seem to correlate to anything??
- Wigets on launcher seem to overlap icons or sit too low at the bottom of the launcher screen. Another resolution issue, I get the impression this ROM was pulled from another device with different resolution.
- Unable to set lumen ranges in the backlight settings, would be useful as there are only 4-5 different settings for this phone. I also noticed that when dropping from a higher setting it didnt always go right down to where it should be. Maybe a setting I overkooked or a bug. This is a great feature though that is not in stock.
- Lost an icon when I dragged it to bottom bar, reappeared on reboot. If it didnt, i guess you would have to reinstall the app as there is no app list.
- camera app froze once while in portrait while trying to get the menu up, only happended once though. Besides this the camera works flawlessly for photos/ video. I thought the screen appeared smaller though to stock, that resolution issue again?
- Not really a bug but it would be nice to be able to turn off the checking errors for sd card on boot, instead it scans/ updates SD card immediately. There is a file you can delete in stock for this but it doesnt scan at all if you remove it. I just wonder what its there for, if theres a bug , whats it going to do? repair it??
- While testing out miui music player on stock (not sure if it applies to this) I noticed that if the sd card was pulled out favs/playlist would be lost. Also if you searched for something and pushed on a result instead of the search it would not show any results or go to them. I also liked that blue ics version floating around with the transparant widget (attached)
- Notifications power widgets and status bar tweak settings dont seem to work. Do some of these conflict with toggle settings under personal? or the power widget?
- There is a problem with screenshots. When you hold down the power button while not in lock it brings down the toggles menu with screen shot absent. When in lock, if you hold down the power button the screen shot option is in the menu. 10-15 second delay is also needed.
- Would like option to install stock clock widget. (black and green one, attached)
-Im sure the notification bay has to be deragged up each time, you cant touch it and it goes up auto, maybe its my old shaky fingers o)
- Scrolls too fast while moving apps across launcher screens. No setting to slow the screen transition down.
- Brightness is missing from customise toggle settings menus but appears (which is a good thing) anyhow in list.
- In notes app can highlight ranges of text but when I pushed it, it doesnt give option to copy, just goes back to editing.
- I like those little dots at the bottom of the launcher screen but they are so small theyre hard to use, maybe this is related to those resolution issues. They need to be bigger and further apart.

I also tried to recover a backed up miui image that I saved but it failed, got MD5 sum errors. I wasnt really concerntrating but I guess it was me toying with the different versions of CWM the other day as my previous backup recovered successfully. I uploaded a few images to highlight.
