Root [ROM] Myn's Warm Z

Just found this rom last night...here I was thinking Myn abandoned the evo since I 2.2 rls 5 was released way back in January.

Anyway, forgive my ignorance, what the heck is better about this rom over 2.2 rls 5? Way too many FCs, stuff won't open, the obvious no 4g (why not, he had it working in 2.2) and HDMI...the description sounds great, but I don't see any pro here.
 
Couple issues that I'm having. Not sure if these have been addressed or not.
Lost all my voicemails-Yes i had back ups from multiple back up programs. Nothing.
Contacts aren't syncing with facebook or google. I get notifications saying i have x amount of matched contacts that i have to manually sync. Whats up with that? Getting really annoying. I would hate to have to go back to my RLS5 back up. Oh, and no warm updater? Still getting the Voicemail text notifications 9016....i have changed the number to my phone number. Sorry if these issues have been answered already.
Any ideas?

it is a port for htc desire z... which is 2.2 but with new sense 2.x. which does not have 4g, hdmi, ffc support.

if you want sense 2.0 then try warm z.
if you dont... have a nice day.
 
Assuming google is set to autosync, try rebooting. Every now and then, my contacts won't show the synced facebook pictures, but a reboot usually "resyncs" them. I actually like the contact match notifications! Normally, google syncs your contacts with facebook automatically meaning it will get some wrong that you have to go back and change. This way, the assumed matches that are usually incorrect are shown to you so you can dismiss them and save yourself some time. Personally, I don't like trying to call my dad and seeing a facebook friends picture :)

warm updater quesiton has been answered. What about the voicemail issue? I entered my number on the settings. Does it need to have a # or a * infront of it? I did get my voicemails back after restarting.

Is their a way to select all instead of hitting over 400 check boxes? thats a pain in the ass lol.

If you read a page back in this thread, you'll start to realize rebooting is a common method used to fix problems with this ROM haha. I am trying a different rom right now, not sure if you can select all, sorry..
 
My screen display is currently showing 90% using alot of batter power. Does anyone no how to trouble shoot this?Is it not sleeping even though the screen is off when I turn it off?

Do you have the Spare Parts app? You can download it from the market. It can help you pin point the non sleep issue. Do you have any apps that auto synch in the background? Also when you flashed the ROM did you wipe cache, dalvik, data, and factory restore from recovery?
 
I went back to CM7, much better IMO, only thing I liked about MynZ was sense 2.0 but that functionality isn't as cool as I'd thought.

CM7 is amazing
 
I guess spare parts is already included in this ROM.It says time spent with screen on 55 minutes. Doesnt really pin point why though if its been off the whole time. I cleared wiped cache, dalvik, data, and factory restore from recovery prior to adding all the apps. How can I see if my apps are auto syncing

what are your favorite nuances regarding CM7? im running KONI ES2 and love the speed of the thing, but am i missing out on fun stuff?

Check the partial wake usage in spare parts to see if there's anything. You can also check the menu>settings>accounts & synch to see if there's any accounts set to auto synch.
 
I can't stand it anymore!!!!!!!!!! Those stupid voicemail text notifications are driving me insane. I'm about to shoot my Evo with a 45. I have changed the number and followed all directions from the XDA posts. I have even tried pulling the battery out. I tried +1 and 1 in front of my number. Nothing. Anyone else having this issue?

For those receiving the 9016 text messages and using Spring Voice Mail App you need to receive those texts in order to get notified of new VM. If you block the texts you will not receive new VM notifications. You can use Red List, Super Conversation, or other SMS apps to filter the 9016 text and not notify you of the new message. That way you'll still see the new VM notification.
 
hhhmmm.. i use google voice... other than the first 9016 text, when i first flashed the ROM..

i never see 9016 any more.
 
Does anyone know how to use the 3 way calling on this rom?Theres no option to merge call only add call? Am I missing something

i think i noticed some thing: battery with slow down and lag issue.

it seams if the phone's battery drops low (not sure at what point);
the phone starts to lag really bad... you can see it just sliding through the homescreens.
and if you charge your phone back up.. still laggy.. but a little better.
it requires a reboot to fix the lag.

also .. when this happens.. there is an interesting thing that happens.
I can go into an app... and start to press the "back" button and keep going through all the open apps.
ex: i go into handcent... and press "back".. out of handcent ..
it will go through what I think all the apps running in the background.. including several incedents of open handcent conversations.. phone ... internet... engadget..

it might have something to do with the "power saver" in settings.
I am testing it out.. and see.
does it reduce cpu power when it falls to low? maybe it has a problem with re-initialize it back once it has been recharged?

so.. i went into the settings and turned off "power saver"..
it seems to have helped the lag.

I am not sure of all this.. just what I think i see.
still testing.

edit: just thought about this.. and my lag issues did start when I started to use the power savings feature. hhmmm...
 
IDK what happened but I went back to Warm Z and have no issues what so ever. I was able to get my LCD notification working and now my battery life is better than RLS5 with the same kernel.

Did you do anything differently prior to flashing the rom?
 
I will say that if you use Titanium Backup religiously like I do, it will cause problems. I thought it was an issue with the ROM. Then I tried Miks Z and the same thing happened in the same order....IOW, everything worked fine until I did a batch restore. I basically restored my phone manually and it works very well!!! Fastest ROM I have ever seen.

I would lean towards Miks....simply because his stuff is just a tad cleaner and faster(my opinion). But you have to credit Myn with doing a LOT of the legwork of this deal...and then Mik cleans it up a bit more. I will also quantify my stance as not having spent too much time on Myn's. I am sure it is a fine ROM.

Zooming out....what amazes me is how all of these developers work with each other to put out the best stuff they can.....truly a group effort for the common good of people like you and me. Anyway, a big THANKS to all of the devs out there!!!!
 
I love both Mik's and Myn's version of the Z rom. Right now I prefer Mik's bc its faster to me and I have more internal memory when flashing. Mik's Warm doesn't seem to have the lag/memory issue that I experienced with Myn's Warm.
 
does sprint hotspot works well with this ROM this is the biggest concern i have when it comes to switchin to anything besides their RLS4
