Root [ROM] Nils Business sense 4.0

Hmmm...sync finally went away. I wonder if it just takes a long time to sync facebook pictures or old emails or something. Oh well. Good to go....loving it!

As a side note, I use the trace keyboard, so I did flash the test keyboard that he posted. Seems to work great

It's weird, airplane mode doesn't take it away, and neither does shutting off and turning back on. I uninstalled the two apps I installed after switching to newts, everything else was on before hand. Guess I just have to deal with it for a few days haha

hmm maybe youre on to something there. if its syncing stuff on the phone, tat could explain why it continues even in airplane mode.

i didnt have any FCs,but pretty much all i used today was the phandroid, email, text, and phone apps ;)

i did have it get stuck in landscape on the home screen. apps would change back and forth, but the homescreen stuck on landscape no matter how i turned the phone  a reboot fixed that.

also got fairly comparable battery life to one xxx. :smokingsomb:

capri it is a looooong first boot. i was starting to think mine was hung as well. i didnt pay attention to the actual time frame, but it seemed like forever. may have been 10 min

Yeah, I am booting up now...or tryin to. It is a long wait indeed. I will be patient.

hang in there... if you made it past the spalsh screen to the little androids hiding and waving at you boot animation then you should be good to go.

I am looking at a white screen that says HTC. That's not good. It has been several minutes (about 12) now.

Okay, I think I am good...of course the issue was using hboot to flash the kernel. I have never done that before because I have always booted recovery from the cmd prompt. I now see the android waving.

Thanks again, scotty. now I can play with business sense.

I keep seeing stuff about 3 finger gestures. What gestures does sense 4.0, or this Rom have that I can't seem to figure out?

thats a good question... i dont use gestures at all,so im not sure what "3 finger" ones will be. definately report back if you figure it out :smokingsomb:

Nils business sense runs very well...only one minor issue: I cannot seem to log into Friendstream. It may be something that is not allowed in Business sense. Who knows. But every thing else works. Including Wifi tether. A very good, stable rom.

Which version did you install? Facebook for HTC didnt work in the earlier version, but was fixed in v2 I believe. Also, try setting it up in accounts & sync settings instead of through the friend stream widget.

It's version 2.2. I tried setting up in accounts and sync. There is no option for social media, friendstream or whatever. Maybe I should reinstall the ROM?

dont use friendstream,or any htc widgets other than the flip clock,so i cant comment. but its prolly not working for me either :D

one issue i did have, was i let my battery die, plugged the phone in,and in a few minutes turned it on. when it powered up,i couldnt wake it up  i had to pull the battery, and turn it on again. at wich time it seemed fine...

Apparently it doesn't work for me either. I dont use it, but I thought it was working before I removed it from my home screen. I just tried it again, and no go. So, my apologies for my earlier post.

No problem...I am just happy it wasn't just me having the problem with friendstream. And not having friendstream isn't a big deal.

New version posted today on XDA.

Question for you Scotty. As I'm S-ON, but following your others posts, as long as I fastboot boot amon Ra, then I should be able to install this through aroma installer as if I'm S-OFF correct? just want to make sure I finally have a grasp on all your tips about S-ON and ROM loading!

New version released today.

I also saw this theme. I've never flashed a theme before. My question is, say I flash it then don't want it anymore, do I have to restore a nandroid to get rid of it or is there some way to remove a theme? Just curious because I think I want to try it. Thanks!

*EDIT* Also, the next release (Say Nils V2.5 whenever it releases) will that override the Theme?

you can remove the theme by reflashing the rom with only a cache/dalvik cache wipe. if you do not wipe data, your setup should be preserved. i would make a nandroid just to be safe, however ;)

yes, flashing 2.5 will also override the theme :)

I'm wanting to test out Nils (from Cleanrom, S-off, jb_hboot, locked, ics firmware) and I always get a little confused about the "wipe process" in recovery. Seems to always be different instructions. To do a full wipe I'm assuming you do factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik, and system but you mention also doing a wipe on boot if installing a new kernel. I'm assuming going from Cleanrom to nils I'm installing a new kernel?

Thanks!!

If your S-OFF the installer will automatically install the kernel for you. If S-ON then you just need to select the S-ON kernel and it will boot to the bootloader to install it.

my personal recomendation would be to fastboot boot amon recovery into memory, then chose s-off in aroma. let recovery install the kernel, then your done,no reboot to bootloader or having to remember to remoce ph98img from the sd card.
