Root [rom] pac-man

This is how my YouTube crashes :( have to hold down power button until it shuts off for a reboot.

Mine too, I uninstalled it and just use the browser.

Did the clean installation yesterday for the first time and this ROM ROCKS.;)

YouTube also works fine.

Got a small annoying issue.. How to remove the Navigation bar?

Somehow I enabled it and I do not want to use it.

Tried to follow instructions for ICS and got confused with steps.:(

One of the options in the V6 script is basically a cron job to wipe your ram. Might be worth setting that to like 6-12 hours.
Yea that would do the trick. Do you know which option it is? I looked, but I'm not certain from the list.

Nevermind, I found it. Seems to do the trick... I'm flushing every 12hrs.

Btw,the starter pack is a great place for people to start if they want the tweaks.

Anyone have any problems with their key board?it seems to be sticking for me.like if I'm texting and pressing space bar it won't move etc Also what's the best way to have the best battery life as possible.

Nope. But I'm supercharged and use Swype. Though tbh I just swapped back to aokp .

Best battery life? Turn your cpu to the lowest setting. Turn off GPS. Turn on airplane mode. Turn screen brightness all the way down. Turn off your button backlight.

I've encountered that a few times, but generally when I'm low on ram and need to flush it out.

For battery life, use the supercharger. I'm getting insane life now.

^ and then thank us later. ;)

Use the Entropy and 'flush' tweaks to make this rom super smooth. I also use the PimpMyRom app for all the battery and entropy tweaks. Needless to say, my phone runs like buttah.

It runs like buttah, and gets amazing battery life! Before, I would average 9-10hrs on heavy usage, now I get double that!

Before 3-6% hr drain on deep sleep, radio on, data off. Today after v6 script, I got less than 1% hr drain in sleep.

I'd like to see if this helps my phone. If it does, I'll figure out what it does and add that to the builds.

What exactly did you do?

The posts on xda should explain what all it does. It also addresses baking it into roms.

A large part of it is init scripts that tweak oom settings. I'm at work until tomorrow or I'd send you mine.

As far as framework patching it applies like 56 or so smali tweaks to framework.jar there's two files in there it has to modify but can't remember them off the top of my head.

As far as I understand the pimp my Rom battery tweaks are just some build.prop tweaks.

Here's what I did...

Pimpmyrom: chose the 'battery saving' settings, then adjusted my entropy. I enabled all the tweaks under 'init' and that it.

V6: I applied the 780hp setting and enabled entropy tweak. I set the flush for 2hrs and that it.

Imo, entropy and ram consumption is the issue with this rom. When I tweak those elements, the lag decreases and performance increases. Not sure if you can duplicate that in the rom without users using the v6 and the app.

so out of pac-man rom, aokp, and cm10.1, which one gets the best battery life? how about performance?

i really want to switch to JB roms but not sure which one of those three are the best, i tried cm10.1 awhile ago and smoothness seemed worse than on ICS. So wich one would you guys recommend?

Think you just have to try them each... For a while I preferred CM, had lag issues on PAC, now AOKP runs the best for me, but battery is horrible. I can plug in during the day so not a deal breaker for me. Haven't messed with the supercharger or pimp tweaks so those would probably help some.

For me, pacman with ally tweaks has the best life, but I'm going to try the tweaks on aokp and see what results I get. It should be the same.

If you can figure out which settings get rid of the lag I can put them into the next build.

According to this post Pimp My Rom seems to be using a binary to generate the entropy based off the one here

That dev gives permission to use the entropy generator in any rom and provides the necessary source patch. From what I'm reading, all that this does is modifies the RNG service and feeds /dev/urandom into /dev/random to provide more entropy. However, I also saw posts stating that this could be a 'security concern'.

watch -n 1 cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail
Gives me between 150-200 on stock (CM10.1 Nightly atm, I would assume its not much different on PAC).
With the Tweak applied, it can be anywhere from 1500-4000

I'm guessing that given the background work that the density mods probably have to do, it eats up what little entropy is available on PAC which is why the lag is so much more noticeable there.

In the dev's post, it says to call it from init.d... However, I can't for the life of me find an init.d script calling anything related to it after applying the tweak.

Also, this build.prop tweak from PMR should be baked in imo.

ro.lge.proximity.delay=25

It just turns the screen on much faster when you pull the phone away from your ear.

Yea the second you apply the entropy tweaks in pacman, the improvement is noticeable. The PA Integration and use is likely a culprit... If I turn off pie with no entropy tweaks, the lag is far less.

What's boggling is how I keep getting modem crashes with pacman and not aokp or cm. I got them before and after tweaks.

Not sure. I noticed that on PAC some features in Tasker that require CM or AOKP wouldn't activate either, so I switched back to AOKP then CM to see if the features worked correctly.

Maybe it's just the way that they pull/cherry pick parts and pieces? Not sure.

Have you compared your dmesg from each to see if you're getting errors finding/initializing hardware on each?

@TDM, Is there someplace that we can download sources from? Not that I'm a dev. I like to have archives of sources for some reason though (and to be able to pump out builds)
