Root [ROM] PACE 4.3: Pure Android, CAF/CM Enhanced

I found a Xposed mod that fixes the battery status/tracking on KK, and installed the mod Neph recommended. It is deep sleeping in interactive/noop, haven't tested the others yet. Battery life seems to be improving every day, don't think it's been this good since the Broken Out days! 13 hours, 54% with WiFi on and light usage.

Very nice! Mind sharing a step-by-step + links? (here or PM)

Actually, with more custom KK ROMs showing up, might be worth its own thread.

Got it flashed after removing the assert from the script inside the zip. For anyone else flashing, be sure to reflash your gapps and any other zips as /systems is fully wiped as part of the install.

For anyone that hasn't done it before, the file to edit is ./META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script inside the zip. Remove the first line, save the file, and replace it in the zip. Be sure you are on a 4.4 compatible recovery (e.g. CWM 6.0.4.5) and flash your gapps zip (and superuser zip, if needed) after installing the pace zip

PS: Anyone know if the "official" CWM and CWMT images on clockworkmod.com have been updated with whichever build.prop updates the experts here recommended?

Alright this is getting old really fast. The official device name for cwm and all third party ROMs should be vs920. I'll get that nailed down Monday if I can.

Sorry for the trouble.

No problem, TDM. Worth the trouble for a beta build :) Thanks for keeping this going.

If I read CM's blog correctly, it looks like e980 has official CM11 nightlies, yes? Any idea where we stand on vs920 and what, if anything in particular, you'd like to see tested?

Well I'm not sure exactly who maintains e980 .. there are several capable devs with one, including rmcc and me. So yeah I'm sure it will get great support. But I'm kinda distanced from cm lately.

rmcc maintains iproj usually. But I have a good base and he's busy with other devices, so I may be the one to kick that off for cm11. It's mostly a matter of getting rmcc to create branches and accept patches.

Roger. I knew you had mentioned the e980 was your DD at some point and assumed you were involved.

Looking forward to PACE 4.4.1 stable. I'll let you know if I run into any issues with rc2 this weekend.

Flashed the 4.4.1 and pa gapps but sdcard will not mount and Hangouts error pops up on boot up. Any ideas?

Sorry I derped the sdcard name in fstab. I'll fix that soon.

Also I found the place where I_vzw is being set as the device name. I'll remove that.

And I'll throw in some vzw stuff like SSO.

You have another tester here... I like this ROM, and this phone is my DD.

Setup Notes:
- used the 6.0.4.5 from Neph (Assert Fix) from the other thread
- did this 2 nights ago on RC1 - haven't tried RC2 yet
- flashed pa_gapps 1126, superuser.zip

Experience:
- switched to art runtime, seems peppier
- settings menu for gallery = black screen, so i can't disable the photo syncing (per the battery life article)
- youtube doesn't play back, flickers on black screen when attempting to play video
- screen filter app does not seem to persist across wakes - I don't think i need it anymore tho because the phone actually seems to respect the stock brightness control.
- occasionally freezes upon waking/unlocking - i see status bar but no touch response and have to reboot.

This is my very first custom ROM ever. This phone is my DD and I would like to stick with this ROM for awhile. Being a newbie, I have a couple of questions...
- If I want to take the RC2 you posted, is there anyway to upgrade to it so I don't have to re-setup the 3 google accounts I have to sync with? (me+work+wife)
- looks like voicemail alerts comes from carrier software, as I don't appear to be getting them anymore (need to test and confirm). Can anyone recommend a good visual voicemail solution?

Heartfelt thanks to tdm and the community here. This is awesome.

Great, nice to have you here, and I'm honored this is your first custom ROM. ;) Don't let the known issues put you off, this is a pretty fresh set of code and they should get fixed soon.

Google goes to some length to provide compatibility on updates. Since PACE is pretty much pure AOSP, I will never require users to wipe when updating PACE. You only need to wipe when converting to/from another ROM. The update/install procedure for PACE is simply flash the ROM and then gapps, then reboot.

Verizon Single Sign On. It's their authentication app that is needed to use certain VZW apps, such as Verizon NFL Mobile.

Google voice for visual voicemail. I've been using it for years

IT'S ALMOST THERE...

Found newer GApps for PACEPLUS 4.4.1

Downloaded and copied new GApps listed below to phone.

12-6_GApps_Standard_4.4.1_signed.zip | by BaNkS for Generic Device

Did full wipe of data, cache, and dalvik cache.

Flashed paceplus44-vs920-1.0.rc2b.zip.

Flashed 12-6_GApps_Standard_4.4.1_signed.zip.

NO NEED TO FLASH SUPERUSER.ZIP as SuperSU is included in the ROM.

I like this GApps because since I deselected to restore from my Google Backup then I was able to select to install only the Google and Google Play apps I want. They didn't all install by default.

4G starts right up on first boot.

No Hangouts error and Hangouts comes up fine.

SD Card reads and writes fine.

Settings menu in Gallery displays properly.

SuperSU updated automatically after setup.

Verizon Mobile app works without installing an extra apk file as was needed with CM 10.x.

Cons:

Still having problem with displaying videos in YouTube.

Still having issues with 3rd party apps that use the camera (ex. Barcode Scanner, Camera Zoom FX, Skype, etc.). Apps lock up and just display lines and waves on screen.

Aside from that this ROM seems fairly stable so far. Will keep posting on any other issues I encounter.

Sorry, but I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to be looking for.

In fstab.iprj the voldmanaged attribute sets up the mount point. In init.iprj-common.rc the fuse service name and mount point must match. And the commands to setup the initial directories must be correct.

Just diff the files between yours and mine. It should become clear.
