Root [ROM] Quattrimus JB (CM10, AOKP41)

For those with bad battery life....

Install cpu spy. You will likely notice that your phone spends a lot of time at 192mhz when it should be in deep sleep.

I'm looking into this issue but it will take a few days at least. In the mean time, try using the app "DS Battery Saver". This app forces the phone into deep sleep when the screen is off. I've been using it for a few hours and it works amazingly well.

Do you know how it functions if I am downloading a file (latest beta rom) when the screen goes black? Is it going to stop/pause/screw up my download?

Hmmm... I'm noticing that the file you were testing is a far lower bitrate and is matroska version 2, whereas the Ironman file is almost 4 times the overall bitrate but matroska version 1.

So perhaps its matroska version 2 that is the issue...

Now to go get a crash course on video codecs - Prof. Google! I need some help over here :P

Edit: Neph, can you get the same info on the other sample file?

Common theme at this point seems to be mkvmerge. I wonder if it's doing slightly corrupt encodes.

I keep getting this error message on CM10:

Messaging is sending a large number of SMS messages. Do you want to allow this app to continue sending messages?

It starts to come up when I start to text a lot and I have to confirm it each time I send a text. It never happened on AOKP41 to me. I googled it and it seems to be a feature that google implemented to counter spam or something like that. Does anyone know how to disable this because it's really annoying.

It's under lock screen settings. Choose screen security and it's at the bottom of that menu.

Its under Settings > Security > App Security

I can confirm CM10 B3 fixed the camcorder (records 720 at least) and the "roaming indicator on" is gone on the lockscreen replaced by Verizon Wireless. Dirty flashed over B2. Thanks again!

This is definitely hitting the stable daily driver status... the remaining bugs are very small.

Deep sleep worked for me with the pm.sleep.mode tweak although I don't know the exact line just used RTB for the build prop editor

EDIT: this isn't very reliable will run a longer test

For me it's not that the phone doesn't enter deep sleep at all, its that the phone wakes up far too often. My CPU graph actually looks a lot like yours most of the time.

Thought I would mention that I just tried recording 1080p video on CM10b3 and it worked great! It seems that the camcorder issue is fixed completely as well in beta 3.

1080p recording is working for me too. One thing I did find is that it doesn't really let you access the advanced camera settings. It opens the menu up but doesn't really respond to touches.

Here is a better test with the tweak had powersave as governer

What's the benefits of the deep sleep=0?

You want the phone to go into deep sleep, so it conserves battery when not in use. It's one of the things cm9 and cm10 do really well.

deep sleep + 0 basically turns the phone off when it hits deep sleep. a value of 1 keeps it on but with nothing more than the system really running. At least that what i think it is. someone correct me if i'm wrong

What does the rom have as default?

Putting it in that deep of a sleep all the time could make waking an issue.

The radio stays on of course. The only practical negative effect of deep sleep is that it takes a second or two to reconnect to data/wifi.

I've noticed that since I installed DSBS wifi needs to reconnect every time I turn on the screen and my battery drains at around 1% per hour. I'll take that trade. :D

Will wifi be cut off in deep sleep if you have the wifi persistent setting on like I do?

Oh and where do you make that change? I can test it out.

So, I use pdroid with the auto patcher. It always breaks camera apps. I do have a link to the original thread of pdroid here. (Source code and app to make it work after patching in that thread)

Would it be possible to compile it with the ROM to avoid incorrect patching?

I know our sub forum for "all things root" people complained about not having a working LBE, and this is a better alternative. Just a thought.

I would love having a working camcorder and a privacy app in the same ROM, and every patch I try to make breaks camera all together, but sadly I am not that smart when it comes to modifying the actual ROM as you devs are.

Anyway, below is the link to the patches, even though it breaks camera, enjoy the privacy app until it can be done without breaking camera. Also, using and patched cm10 ROM, haven't tried aokp41 but should have same results

Thank you tdm for your hard work!
