Root [ROM][RC][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 11 12/3/2014

OK thanks for all the help, got the gapps and will come back to this forum if there are any other problems becasue xda is full of crap when it comes to this phone they know NOTHING

You may already be aware but several different gapps packages are available if you search. You can get the full package or a very small, lightweight (for using gapps anyways) package and packages in between the two. Some like all the Google crap, some want as little as possible while still maintaining core stuff like playstore or gmail, and some want none at all.

On a random note, I'd also recommend trying some, if not all, of the other ROMs available here as well. All work and all have their own uniqueness to them. I personally really like this particular ROM but I've liked several others over time that are probably just as good. Spirit, Tesla, Lawe, CandyCat, AWEsome, and the Stock Mod to name a few...

What would happen if I change the runtime to ART instead of dalvik? has anyone tried? I've heard ART opens apps quicker on other devices.

yes I run art have no problems the first time u switch to art on the first boot will take some time then u will see difference at least I do

I personally couldnt tell a difference but I'm not a heavy app user either. I'm debating switching back to CM11 because I miss the quick tile pull down on 4.4 and listening to music with 4.1.2 (I think thats correct) is hampered with annoying noises courtesy of ZTE. Loved it before but random reboots made me switch but I'm guessing a lot of the reboots were from OCing at 1.67.

Im back on 4.1.2 because I cant get video to work on my phone with any of the KK builds, but they do have significantly better battery life, for me at least. One of the first things I did when I flashed those builds was put them on ART so somehow I attribute it to that... *shrug*

My wife has a stock awe and definitely gets better battery life. But, as long as I stay away from the screen, it generally lasts all day... But yeah, it's an opportunity cost of the roms. Some people seem to do better.

Hey, this is my first post in AndroidForums.com. I didn't see a "search this thread" option, so please don't flame me if I could have gotten the following information without posting...

Will this ROM work on a ZTE Source (N9511)? I've seen elsewhere that the Awe and Source are very similar, and talks about developing a recovery for the Source turned people toward adapting a recovery from the Awe. Unfortunately, I believe the Source went by the wayside when Cricket stopped working on CDMA, so development on the Source has dried up, and there haven't been any posts in the Source forum for months. I intend to use the ZTE Source to run some automated stuff that requires Android 4.3+... but unfortunately, the ZTE Source was only updated to 4.1.2 before support ended.

I do not plan to use the Source with an active cellular plan. It will be used on wifi ONLY, and running Tasker and a few Tasker plugins to do its thing. I've got PhilZ Recovery loaded on the Source, so hopefully even if this ROM wouldn't boot, I'd be able to recover and reload a working Source ROM. I just thought I'd ask here first.

If it's possible, please let me know. If this ROM would need small tweaks in order to run, please let me know how I can help. Thanks!

Awes are cheap.

Thank you for your reply. However, I am still interested if this ROM will boot on a ZTE Source, with or without modification. I've got a handful of Sources already... purchased for about $12/each. At that price... there's little recourse for returning them, and unfortunately, the Awe was not offered at the time (nor is it now from the retailer from which I got them). Thanks again

I'm pretty sure the hardware has some variations on the Source. What I'd recommend is looking at one of the many porting guides and attempt to port this ROM to your device or perhaps reach out to a known Dev and solicit them for a source built ROM ... Typically not a good idea flashing roms built for other devices because of hardware, kernel/driver differences and so on.

Is there any way to remap the hardware camera button to open another app. I installed Open Camera instead of the crashing CM camera. Now I would like to use the hardware button to start Open camera.

I just installed this ROM. So far I am liking it and it's working well for me.

Not that I know of. What you could do though is remove the crashing icon with open cameras icon. If you look around, you may find something that'll do that but I personally know of no options as far as that goes.

I think the N9510 Warp 4G is closer to the N9511 for overall same chipsets, etc. but the Awe is also related. However it won't work as is on the Source.

hroark13 made a CM11 rom that works on the Source and is fairly stable but incomplete and take awhile to boot.

We'd have to crowdfund or something like that to get someone motivated to port phenomx4's work to the N9511

Does anyone else get false voice mail notifications after a reboot? Anyone know of a fix? I can long press the notification and tell it to ignore messages like these, but it comes right back again if I reboot, and clearing data doesn't help at all.

Also, if anyone could recommend a camera app thats better than Open Camera, and does not have ads or unnecessary permissions, I would be very thankful. Been searching for a while for something that meets this criteria, and no luck yet. I've been trying to get the Camera2.apk to work, and I've made some progress, but it doesn't look very promising. I need libdashplayer.so from another similar device (I believe one of the sammy devices uses it and also has an msm8930, still digging into that though), the Camera start preview is still incorrect (could use help finding the location of that), and causes a crash with surface flinger immediately. I'm not sure if I'll ever get it working, but I have to at least try.
