Root [ROM] Shuji

Just remember what AOSP GB looks like on other ROMs (basic launcher by default with icons on the notification bar being green).

http://rootzwiki.com/forumdisplay.php?95-Droid-X-Theme-Forum

^ has a few different themes for the ROM with ss's. They've said numerous other themes will be coming shortly.

In the first day on this ROM w/o setcpu profiles, I got 4.6 hrs of screen on time (browsing/phandroid/texts) along with probably 2.5 hrs of streaming Slacker radio.. that's the best I've had on any ROM. interested to see how things are with having calibrated the battery and the ROM getting a few days to burn in.

They are showing this is getting great battery life, which is why I left CM7. I am on DarkslideX right now and it is getting pretty good bat life. Might have to try this now.

This rom is super fast. The only thing I can't use is god mode. It fcs every time I try to open.

The Launcher2 is from OMGB & Contains a "God Mode" tab which is non-functional at the moment, but will be repurposed in the future. ~ from the description of the ROM.

what is the list of bugs for this rom? I'm on MIUI now and thinking of trying this out depending on what it lacks? thanks!

None that I've seen so far. Other than the god mode but didn't even realize that was for launcher 2 so that doesn't even matter to me since I use lpp.

+1, even incl LPP. Can't really notice battery just yet, but will keep an eye on it. But the one thing you notice once you've restored all of your apps and widgets is that it is noticeably faster than both Apex or Liberty GB.

One bug I had with ApeX that now seems fixed - whenever moving apps to SD (either individually or as a batch using SuperBox), I would get a failure message after initially clicking "Move to SD card" saying that the app failed to move. I would just click it a second time and the app would move. Just a minor annoyance that I was able to live with. This no longer happens on Shuji.

It does seem that OverclockWidget does not work with Shuji. But frankly it is not necessary because of the speed I have with this ROM as is.

Edit 8-13. Personalized ringtones working for me. Also figured out how to overclock using ROM Toolbox.

Battery life on day one prior to calibration:

^ lot's of browsing/Facebook/texting and quite a bit of Slacker streaming.

This is definitely my go to ROM until cyanogenmod hits beta or release candidate.
Oh yeah I am also running the Galaxy X theme which has no issues.

Got this running with the Blur camera zip from Apex and that Bionic boot animation that some guy put together the other week. Gonna stay here until 2nd init ROMs get better battery life or I get a new phone :P

So I assume we can also use Apex's MT keyboard and swype zips with this as well?

They should work as this ROM is beaded off of Apex but I can't make any guarantees. And of you want Swype I would sign up for the beta as it is newer than the Apex version.

Yeah I've got the swype beta as well but I don't like it as much. For some reason the beta version layout looks very "preschoolish" to me.

For people running this ROM are you using the new marketplace or the old one? I just tried to install the new marketplace from the apks at droid life and both 3.026/3.027 did not work. Wondering if it's a ROM thing or just my issue.

anyone else having any issue's with the google music player? i keep trying to play music from my cloud and the music app keeps crashing.
wiped cache and reinstalled app, same problem. :(

I've been running the new marketplace without any problems. I don't really like the looks of it but that's just personal choice.

I've been using Shuji with the GalaxyX theme for about a week or so now and it is faster and less buggy than Apex. I used Apex 2 RC for about 3 days before I was ready to pitch my phone against the wall out of aggravation lol.

@imronburgundy - Yes the Apex apk for swype works well with this ROM, I haven't tried the MT Keyboard so I can't say on that one.

I'm not impressed on the battery life. Same usage on my phone I did with the 2 part GB install and the GB Red theme and it seems to me the battery life is less on Shuji. Otherwise I love this ROM.

The only thing I still need to figure out is how to get my voice mail back, did the 2 part GB use VVM?

Dang looks like I gotta try troubleshooting. Thanks for the reply and yeah my experience is pretty much the same as yours. Apex was too buggy, shuji is just so stable.

So what's the scoop with this ROM?

The Op summarizes it well, it feels like a better more reliable version of apex. If you liked apex then chances are you will like this, if you don't mind doing the nightlies and stuff with 2init roms I don't see the point. I'm waiting until cyanogenmod is more complete.

For stability and battery life, this is the way to go. CM7 and other 2nd init ROMs are only really necessary if you like complete customization and don't use your phone a lot or mind charging it during the day.
