^Is this still in testing phase? Otherwise If I wanted to take it to the metro store do I have to just unroot or unroot and downgrade to stock rom before I take it in?

Hmm.. I downloaded it and my computer said the file had malicious software on it. Is that a mistake?

Lol I hope so... I don't rmember adding any viruses to it :p

For the unroot guy.. yeah that should be fine.. just unroot

But the boot.img is rooted also so maybe jus restore a backup of stock instead than reinstall stock recovery and unroot all with the aio by pg

Eh, the SD card I used for the original root I misplaced it :( So what do I do?

Whats the AIO by PG?

It an all-in-one batch script installet for root/recovery & undoing it as well
You can find it in one of the root method threads by pg.. file is called like esteem-revo-aio or something like that

Try the new su app something wrong with the old stuff i got this 1.20 and up and its good to me plus has a feature that keeps u rooted and if u want to place in as system app . And i almost forgot u have other options as temp unroot or cleanup and add app from market . Check it out super su from chains he the best . And is a world wide hero :eek::cool::what::rolleyes:

I think I have it saved on my card already in the zip file. I think I might try doing your version first (if its safe) and seeing how my phone reacts, but I saw the guy above had problems with superuser not being there. So, I'm hoping it doesn't happen to me cause I don't know how to get it back lol. And I have twrp as my recovery, would the AIO file take that off also?

If your su app does disappear just flash that zip u got . Dont wipe nothing . Flash the zip through clockworkmod and flash back and u are done

Stock Root DeOdex ZVE - comp tells me appears malicious too,i kno u wouldnt, but wat u think is causing it ldrifta,im going with the debloated anyways, thanks again, hope we can get #2 2.5 zve ? thats wat my phone liked lol

That doesnt matter you flash that app to restore the su or change the su . Thats just a custom recovery and if you look at cwm it offer you the option to gain access to that recovery .:D:rolleyes:

yeah the missing su thing wont break anything on your phone lol just no root privilages.. which you probly dont even need unless you like to tinker with things :D

but im working on it now just a simple fix lol

so i have a ? due to the ZVE update witch i have after i un-rooted and now i'm in the process of rooting right now, Is this the only current Rom on this forum that supports the update? b/c i was about to put 2.8.1 on it but now i'm not so sure

Can you explain the 'lack of data' if we don't unroot before we update?
I just wanna make sure I'm not overlooking anything since I updated to zve ;)
The way I did it was I went to the LG support website, updated the USB drivers, started the LGMobile support tool and waited till it was done updating my phone. Of course I had to go through the process of rooting, installing cwm then installing a ROM again... I was using eversleyd's GS3 ROM before the update...

So if you update with lgupdater, all it will do is wipe the root?

Or do you have to unroot before you update? I'm confused.

Plus if I do go with LDrifta's file, tell me if I got this right

1. Go to recovery
2. backup
3. wipe data, cache and delvik cache
4. Install rom
5. Reboot
?

My phone was rooted with eversleyd's GS3 ROM. I saw a lot of talk recently about a new update (zve) but for the most part it has been written off as a typo as most believe the Esteem is dead (can't be that dead if LG still supports it via updates).
I finally decided to see if there was a update for the phone, so without reading (or knowing any better) with my rooted phone I proceeded with the update to see if there was one.. Lo and behold there was, my phone updated. The update did unroot my phone and I wound up with Metros bloatastic rom but I used v2 aio rerooted, downloaded rom manager off Play and installed cwm, then I installed eversleyd's zve rom (it is very nice btw). Everything appears to work, don't know what the update addresses but whatever :D

To be honest i'm quite surprised, I believe you are the first one i have read that the update worked with a rooted phone... And it does suck that root got striped but Nice Work! :)
