Root [ROM][TH3ORYROM] PUR3AO5PTH3ORY V1.0 [AOSP/CM7] DKS Kernel (8/3/2011)

I didn't get google maps installed with the rom. I was able to turn on GPS. Like I said not that big of a deal (I think my phone just doesn't like sense now that it is so used to the tiny size of AOSP ;))

Have you tried just using GPS Status and forcing the AGPS data download? I think it does essentially the same thing.

Ha yea the difference in size is pretty awesome. Have you also flashed the market fix? That fixes up a bunch of problems with apps not installing etc.

I always keep the .apk for titanium on my external SD so I was able to install that with the included file explorer then restore my Maps backup from there. No market required. Saves you from having to set up your accounts too, especially on a rom you are only flashing for the GPS fix.

Tried it before, didn't work for me.

Nope I haven't, in fact I haven't used the market yet

Now I'm almost 100% sure it was a bad download, no file explorer in the flash.

Thinking of flashing this tonight. Can someone post this market fix zip just in case? Anything else I need to know about this? I saw something about WiFi being broken? Was that a previous build?

I can't find the market fix. I think it was for the 1.3 build and is cooked into the 1.4X build but can't confirm. I have no issues with WiFi. The stock kernel was very bad on my battery. I am currently using Imo's lean 3.5.8 as it is the best for the battery I have used, there is a link to 3.5.11 mod in the theory store but I have not had a good experience with 11 so I didn't even give the mod a try.

Be sure to check out the store there are several themes available, may keep you out of the kitchen for a little while.

Thanks bro. I could have sworn I just read that on 1.4 it wasn't baked in, maybe I misread. You're digging this ROM, though? I've never tried one of his ROMs. When he started releasing all his sense ones I was firmly planted in AOSP land

AFA the themes, I haven't been in the kitchen in quite some time. My new Android obsession is making and modding my own framework  and, yes, it is as tedious as it sounds

Wifi is working fine for me on 1.4. Is the market fix not on the XDA op anymore?

Yeah, this has been my daily driver since I flash it, I went on a flash spree yesterday, after 4 roms I restored back to 1.4X. This is the first theory rom I tried. I rooted, tried out chingy's 3d rom (wasn't bad) went to AOSP and it reminded me why I loved my og droid so much, haven't been on a sense rom for more than a half hour since.

Ooh sounds fun. Would this be editing the different parts of /system/ you gonna try to start doing themes or roms? I wish I could find the time to learn how to make a rom.

I didn't read all 3200 posts in the thread so it could be somewhere in the middle, it is not on the OP anymore, changelog says fixed marked on 1.3

Ok, I'm gonna pull the trigger.

Yea, editing the system icons in framework-res.apk. I love unique, minimal home screens so the icons are similar, ie: stars for signal bars. It was a bitch to get the hang of, but it's great stuff to know. I can take any apk and change whatever icons I want in it basically. Ibrick asked me the same about theming and while I'd love to, I just don't have much free time lately and when I do I'm selfish and want to flash ROMs and such :) Plus, there are a number of great themers in the community already

Ohhh, before I jump in, does this have google auto restore for apps? I don't use TiBu so may have to d/l it real quick

I don't have market access several of my paid apps on this rom so I would suggest making a backup in titanium. I don't know if it restores as I never let google restore my apps :D

I'll upload the market fix to mediafire for you. If after you restore your apps some won't install just flash the fix in recovery.

It does not restore, iirc. I just use tibu batch so I can pick and choose. I, too, am back on 3.5.8.
You do need the market fix. DT basically said it is either market fix or having to use the gtalk installer.

Thank you! You just earned my 100th thank

Ha awesome. Let me know if that works for you guys. Without thinking I tried letting Google restore my apps but that really messed things up, especially with my Amazon and Market purchases. I just ended up restoring everything with tibu and then flashing the fix.

auto restore can be kind of a pain. sometimes it will auto restore the free titanium, and then it wont work until i uninstall and then re-install it. i dont mind if most of my apps auto restore, but some have data that ill have to go back and restore. i always run batches to reback up new apps and newer versions, and ill redo older than 3 days backups,so its just as easy IMO to use tibu.

if you care about market restore run the market dr in tibu before flasing the new rom to get all your apps in "my apps" in hte market.

i just let what is going to autorestore do it,then i go back and restore "missing apps+data" then restore anything that needs data restored :)

I got home at 12:45 last night and couldn't fully charge to flash. Had to be at work again at 8:30 this morning so didn't get a chance to. Have downloaded and will be able to flash this afternoon hopefully.

After reading this entire post I am going to finally flash this over CM7. I'll miss the old bugger, I've been on it since it debuted.

One quick question that I find: Where can I get the Titanium backup + the pro .apk? I do have them purchased, I just can't snag the .apk

I could search around, but I prefer getting them from you guys. I trust you all more.

I'm pretty sure you just have to use the unlock key on the free version. I don't believe there's a separate apk for the pro
